Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this decent driving, attractive white Spitfire showing 116 k original miles. This car was just purchased from the dry state of Arizona and presents cosmetically decent and usable all the way around.

The bodywork on this car is average to good with older white modest paintwork in decent to good shape. There are a few small dings and chips from use. Brightwork is decent with very nice early chrome bumpers. The windshield is fairly good being a replacement “Safevue” brand with a nice rubber gasket. The exterior presents generally well overall. the car looks very solid underneath.

The car's interior is trimmed in a pleasing tan/beige quality vinyl with nicely upholstered seats with matching beige carpets. The black dashboard is in great shape having had the top pad restored. The facia looks good with operating gauges, along with a good condition original steering wheel. The black soft top with biscuit liner looks newer but has a small cut in it above from the top frame on the driver's side. It's still very usable. The trunk could use a gas tank board and a mat fitted.

Mechanically, the car' 1500 cc engine starts quickly, revs smoothly and quietly through it's single Stromberg carb, and feels very healthy. It goes happily down the road makeing the right noises. The gearstick has some typical play in it, but shifting improves a bit once you get used it. The car drives OK, and feels like a typical Spitfire with these higher miles. The tires could use balancing as they fell a bit hoppy at higher speeds.

Overall, a “good driver” condition Spitfire that is modestly priced for Spring/summer fun, in pleasing colors for our warm California climate.
