Meet Dolly.

Dolly is a 1965 VW Splitscreen with an American EZ (Ee-zee) Camper conversion, complete with walk-through cab. Imported from America in 2012, she has been owned and loved by our family since then. She is used very regularly and runs great. With her newly reconditioned 1641cc engine, she accelerated well and stops well too, thanks to a late Bay master cylinder and dual circuit brakes. She will happily sit at 70 mph if asked and can keep up with traffic.

Over the last nine years, we have spent whatever money on her she needed. I'm no mechanic so she has been cared for by professionals. She was commissioned for the UK by Matt Balls at Balls'd who looked after her for six years. More recently, she has been attended to by Paul Johnson at Mid-Norfolk Aircooled. We have a big file of invoices that I am purposefully NOT going to add up! 

Dolly is not a show winner but she is very honest. Only a few panels have needed to be replaced; 4 x outriggers, 1 x cab floor, 2 x front wings. The rest of her is original metal and there are no patches under her floor and no other welding. Her doors have never been off, so all the panel gaps are spot on and as they came from the factory. The roof gutters are perfect (we Waxoyled them as soon as we got her) and her cab doors are in great shape. There are a couple of areas that you may decide need some attention however she is sound, solid and a great example of a 56 year old vehicle. We've kept her with a semi-ratty look as a preference and she ALWAYS gets attention at fuel stations, car parks and on the roads. She is insured with an agreed value of £25k.

Despite her being MOT exempt, we had her MOT'd this year in readiness for her sale. It's due in May 2022.

She is being sold for genuine reasons. This is a ‘head over heart' decision, which I will very openly explain in more detail if asked.

She will be sold with the drive-away awning tent with sleeping pod, which has been used only a handful of times.

Please be respectful of the fact that Dolly is almost part of our family and this is a ‘sensible' decision. Selling her is a wrench and I will only entertain genuine interest in her. Low ball offers will not be replied to.

We live between Downham Market and Kings Lynn in Norfolk. We'll very gladly host viewings. Test drives will only happen if you have and can prove valid insurance, otherwise I will happily take you for a drive and test her out in any way you require.
