Up for auction is a 1970 Opel GT 1900.  I found this car locally  and it was with the first owner.  It was originally purchased here in town from the local Buick dealer in 1970. but the delivery was in Europe.  After that the car was brought home.  So its a one owner car.  The odometer says 41. 07 and the car appears to back that up. When I got the car it was not running and had been sitting for quite a long time.  To recommission it. first the fuel was drained from the tank and the tank flushed out.  The rubber fuel lines were replaced. the fuel pump replaced. and I went through and cleaned out the carburetor.  Next I went through the brake hydraulics.  New cylinders at the rear and I rebuilt the front calipers.  I rebuilt the master cylinder and installed a new brake booster.  I also replaced all the soft brake lines.    Next up was to deal with the battery area.  The battery box was rotted as was the area directly under it in the front valence.  This is very typical for a GT.  I welded in a new battery box and also welded in a new panel directly under the battery in the valence and then sealed and painted it.  I installed a new and correct battery.  The tires were too old to be safe so I installed new and correct style Vedestein radials.  The carpets were coming apart from age and the driver seat had separated at the top seam. so I put in new carpets and had new seat covers installed.  I installed a new rear muffler section as the chrome tips had rusted and looked bad.  Other than that I just cleaned it up.  The paint is OK. The car was repainted years ago and it has faded a bit and it has a few chips and flaws here and there.  The rear and bottom of the back fenders have been cleaned up and painted as they suffered from road rash.  The rockers appear very good and I can only find one small blister just behind the front wheel on the driver side.  No other signs of rust anywhere on the body.  The floors are great and there does not appear to be any corrosion under the car. The interior show pretty well.  The seat covers are new and the carpets are new.  The dash is in pretty good shape but the top section does have cracks in it.  Door panels are in good shape and there is a small cut or tear about 1/2" on the driver side.  The headliner is in good shape. only a small hole where someone must of poked it accidentally but its small.  It runs and drives great.  The clutch and transmission feel good and there are now issues that present themselves in driving it.  Very stable and it feels good.  The engine sounds strong and seems to have normal power.  It does not smoke at all and does not create any noticeable blow by.  It sounds and seems quite healthy.  Its a great little car that really does present quite well on the road.  Draws quite a bit of attention.  If you have any questions about the car. please feel free to give me a call.  I am on the west coast USA. or Pacific standard time. so keep that in mind.  Any time duiring the day is fine.  I can help with shipping by meeting your transporter and such.
