Caddy description.

Front suspension and brakes:

New: steering arms, track rod ends, steering rack gaitors, top mounts, wishbones, bushes, ball joints, CV joints, CV boots, vented discs, pads, retaining clips, bearings, brakes hoses and pipes, master cylinder.

Upgraded: front shocks and springs are coil overs, fully adjustable with custom camber bolts. Mk1 GTI hubs, callipers and carriers.

Under the bonnet/engine.

New: Master cylinder, vacuum pump blades and seals, clutch and plate, cam belt, pump belt, water pump, tensioner, thermostat, diesel pump shaft seal, fuel hoses, clutch cable, radiator, fan, switch, relay and wiring, all water hoses, air filter, oil filter, diesel filter, brake lines, brake fluid, oil.

Upgraded/fixed: The wiring loom has been stripped back and any repairs made then wrapped in Tesa loom tape. Most of the old plugs and connections were corroded so have been replaced or cleaned and made good.

Interior: New: carpet, underlay, mats, battery (relocated to behind passenger seat), universal seat bases (Recaro Sparco ready), Mazda2 front seats (~2000 miles), door cards, winding handles, clocks and instruments (GPS speedo), seat belts.

Upgraded/fixed: The heater matrix was broken and leaking, in leu of this a 5kw diesel heater has been fitted, this still serves to demist the windscreen as well as being able to be set to timer to pre warn the Caddy in winter conditions. I made a console to shroud the heater and host the double din stereo. In the console are usb chargers and a stereo. Original Wolfsbürg steering wheel. Fuse box stripped cleaned and broken parts replaced. Loom inspected and repaired where necessary.

The stereo, it is a Pioneer SPH-DA120 hooked up to a pair of new Vibe Pulse component speakers, the 6.5"'s are boxed and mounted in the knee board area while the tweeters are door mounted, under the seat is a new 8” Vibe Pulse slim sub, this is remotely controlled separate to the stereo from the side of the console.

Rear suspension.

New: shocks, custom made top shock mounts, brake pipes and hoses, drums, slaves, shoes, springs, bearings, handbrake cables, U bolts, custom rear leaf spring mounts.

Upgraded/fixed: Rear axle moved to the upper position, not ‘flipped', allows better movement of the shocks with the new top mounts. If you want it lower it's a case of removing, grinding off my welds and putting in some blocks, an afternoon job with the right tools and know how, with the way I designed it it will still have travel on the original shocks and be limited to the point that the (current) wheels won't foul the arches.

Body/chassis.

Modified and repaired: Both outer wings replaced with new. Whole front panel replaced with new. Both inner wings needed repairs. Scuttle panel was replaced with one from a doner car, as was the A pillar outer skin on the drivers side. Both inner sills were mostly ok so only needed some patchwork, as were the floor pans. Both outer sills replaced with new. The B pillar on the passenger side needed extensive work to rebuild. The bed and chassis in the rear was rotten, all the rot was cut out and new chassis rails and bed supports put in place, these went above oem spec. Custom leaf mounts to allow more room for the lowered axle configuration and custom shock mounts to allow travel on the shocks. All surface rust was removed, Kurust applied to the hard to reach areas. Entire Caddy was etched and primered, then given 4 litres of 2k black gloss. The underside, under the bonnet, and whole interior were Gravitex'ed. All brake pipes are new. The original plastic/nylon fuel lines remain however all the rubber and clips have been replaced with new.

Wheels and tyres.

Wheels are original mk1 Golf GTi Tarantulas which have been refurbed. They have 4x new 175/70R13 Toyo's. All 4 new metal valves. New wheel bolts and locking wheel bolts.

On the mot it was advised for bottom arms/joints, not sure why as they're brand new and fitted correctly (I've been doing this for a long time). I've asked and the reply I got was “well they must've been loose”, I checked them when I got back and they were fine. Obviously when you come to view or have an inspection done you'll see they're fine.

So this Caddy is ready to drop a VR6 in the front, V8 in the back, paint the colour you want, swap out the seats, take to shows, park it in a garage under a sheet, or, just use it. I've been commuting in it, doing the shopping, couple of tip runs and she's as good as gold. I've got other projects to be getting on with so this ones got to go.

This Caddy is going to last someone a long time,

I think I've listed everything, obviously any questions please contact me. If you ring I probably won't answer as I'll be at work, however email and messages will be replied to asap.
