1980 PONTIAC TRANSAM 4.9L V8 TURBO INDY 500 PACE CAR GENUINE Y85 CODED CAR for sale
Current customer rating:
GENUINE Y 85 CODED INDY 500 PONTIAC TRANSAM TURBO 4.9 L V 8 301 ci with genuine 55,000 miles, all old mot certificates to verify. There are 4 thick folders full of documentation for this vehicle, including original build sheet, original shipping documentation and certificates for car from Florida in 1981, all original handbooks, warranties etc, along with stacks of invoices for parts purchased for vehicle. 5 previous owners, I purchased the car in June 2017 and have only covered 6000 miles during that period and only during the summer months, car taken off road for 6 months of the year and stored undercover.
Car is all original including paint, stereo, decals and all interior and for a forty one year old car is in excellent condition but obviously has signs of age for a vehicle of this vintage. It is now registered on the V 5 log book as an historical vehicle and hence is tax and test exempt.
Only 5,700 of these pace car replicas were produced and I have only seen 2 others in this country in complete stock original spec, including still having the original 301 turbo engine. Cars came with 4 wheel disc brakes, WS 6 suspension package, limited slip diff, smoked glass t-tops, electric windows, alloy turbo wheels, hood mounted turbo boost lights etc. Comes with original 2 sets of keys for both ignition and door/trunk locks.
Everything works as it should, apart from this last week when the handbrake warning light stays on, assuming it just needs an adjustment to the handbrake cable, however have a brand new cable with adjuster that would come with the car if required. T-tops don't leak and come with original fischer storage bags, and interior is in excellent condition. Front tyres are probably going to need replacing shortly.
Under the bonnet/hood is very clean unlike alot of the scruffy looking rubbish I have seen on ebay and advertised as a light project (more like a total restoration). I have replaced plugs, ht leads, rotor arm, distributor cap, ignition module, all genuine GM parts for reliable starting and running, and replaced coolant overflow tank and cap, washer bottle and cap, K&N air filter along with other bit and bobs in engine bay ie: new underhood warning and information decals, also some of hardware freshly powder coated. Brand new EBC brake discs and pads fitted to rear and new rear caliper, also stainless steel exhaust system fitted. power steering fluid flushed out and replaced with correct GM fluid, and oil changed every 3000 miles with quality original mineral based product.
Air conditioning items removed by previous owner from under the bonnet but all parts are with car to replace if so required, removed them to save a bit of weight and gain a bit more power, personally I wouldn't have bothered but each to their own, I've never got round to getting them refitted as prefer open air with the t-tops off.
I have loads of pictures of car, including interior, along with the folders of all paperwork, handbooks etc and also any more information you may require about vehicle.
Previous owner had the car for seven years and only used it during the summer months to take to car shows etc, and from his information another previous owner had the car stored in a heated garage as part of his collection for approximately 20 years, and due to the condition of the bodywork that is probably an honest statement.
I am in no desperate hurry to sell vehicle and just fancy a change to a later model vehicle, so will not accept or reply to any silly offers below the starting bid, as these cars are now appreciating in value year on year and so a great investment while still having some great fun, especially with the t-tops off when we do get some sunshine.
Car is advertised elsewhere so reserve the right to end listing if sold out of auction. Car is sold as seen with no warranty implied.
Please feel free to ask any questions about car or send me contact details, my contact number is 1 if you require any more pictures of vehicle or the folders full of documentation. If you like alot of attention you certainly get it with this car, whether at the supermarket, petrol station or just driving down the street, and with a nice deep throaty V 8 exhaust note.
