Daimler Double Six Coupe, XJC Two Door Coupe, 42,281 miles P/X Welcome

The Daimler Double Six Coupe is a rare two-door version of the Daimler four door saloon. It was the last car from Jaguar/Daimler to be designed by Sir William Lyons. The Coupe was first shown to the public in September and October of 1973 at the London, Paris and Frankfurt Motor Shows. It was announced that both 4.2 litre (6 cylinder) and 5.3 litre (12 cylinder) versions would be available for the 1974 model year. The Daimler Double Six Coupe is the Holy Grail when it comes to the two door coupes, only 371 right hand drive models were produced out of a total world wide production of 407 cars. Finished in by far the best colour combination of Squadron Blue with Biscuit leather, complimented by pressed chrome wheels and chrome waist strips. This car is fitted with Alpinair air conditioning. Recorded low mileage of 42,000 miles, with past MOT certificates dating back to 1983, current MOT to August 2021. This Daimler has seen little use, it is my understanding the car spent many years in storage and was recommissioned in 2016 and MOT'd the mileage at that point was 42,186 miles. The car then spent the rest of its time until 2020 in storage, August 2020 it was again MOT'd mileage at this point was 42,204 miles and the car has not been used since. The car has now undergone extensive recommissioning, details of works are listed below.

Complete new head lining, complete new carpet set, new door and side glass seals, new rear bumper centre section, new front & rear over riders, new complete floor pan near side, new rear quarter tank panels, four new tyres, new complete near side rear lamp unit, paint work to bonnet and near side, replacement reversing lamp lenses, new temp sender, both rear corner bumpers, side waist strips and grill all re-chromed, new Exide battery, replacement under bonnet wiring loom guards, new correct electric aerial, new heater valve, two new fuel tanks, new fuel tank and under bonnet fuel filters, new rear suspension bump stops, new near side and off side top ball joints, new near side and off side bottom ball joint gaiters, new gearbox mounting and spring, new fuel pump, new fuel tank change over valve, reconditioned injectors and fuel rail to as factory new condition , new engine bay fuel lines, both air filter boxes restored and new decals fitted along with new filter elements, new near side and off side fuel tank sender units, new front suspension bump stop, new inlet manifold gaskets, new cam cover gaskets, 12 new spark plugs, new distributor vacuum advance unit, new injection trigger unit fixing kit, new alternator, new steering rack pinion seal and mounting bushes. New drivers door lock barrel. Engine oil & filter change, automatic gearbox serviced.

A lovely example with superb Biscuit hide interior, new head lining, new carpets and excellent wood veneers. Paint work and panel fit are both excellent and are complimented by superb chrome of which 90% is new. Mechanically the gearbox changes as it should and the engine shows text book oil pressure and temperatures. Current MOT to April 2022, although the car is of course MOT & Tax exempt. Current mileage is 42,281 miles.
