Current customer rating:
This 1980 BMW 635 CSi is a stock European-market E 24 with an M 90 inline six. dogleg five-speed manual and a factory tan leather interior with Recaro Seats. Imported to the United States from Germany in Feb 1983 by European Motor Sports Inc. the car has covered 63 k miles since new. A recent oil change and safety inspection have been performed. The car has a clean New York title and clean Carfax.
Graphite Metallic paint is in good condition overall. showing a nice gloss with some tiny chips here and there.
Straight. clean body panels fit together well – no accident repair is made by previous owner or myself or the included Carfax report. and damage appears limited to minor dings and a small dent on the top of the passenger quarter panel. Also fitted with Zender Side Skirts.
Slim Euro bumpers include a non-wraparound rear on these earliest E 24 s. looking straight here over the first-year air dam with attached fog lights. Aerodynamic lift was said to be substantially reduced over the earlier spoiler-less 6-series.
The interior has worn well. featuring a crack free dash and Tan leather upholstery. Drivers seat shows some wear and patina from age but are all free of stains. rips or splits while the headliner and visors appear clean and tight-fitting. Rear headrests are equipped and their plastic housings are also in good shape.
All dash items and gauges in the clean flocked instrument cluster are labeled in German with the exception of the US speedometer installed at import. A steering wheel from an E 21 3-series replaced the original item. while the center console is home to an aftermarket stereo head unit.
3. 5 L painted on the side of the engine block confirms the car is powered by the 3. 53 cc big-bore. short-stroke M 90 inline six used in early uncatalyzed European 635 s. Good for approximately 215 horsepower and 229 lb-ft in its day. it was revvier than the M 30 version used in other E 24 s.
Shifting is via a Getrag five-speed transmission with the optional dogleg first gear available only in Euro markets.
