This very cool 1966 GMC 1000 Custom Pickup is for sale in our Louisville Showroom. This GMC sports a rugged engine. It is a 351 CID V 6. As the owner explains it is essentially a 409 V 8 with 2 less cylinder heads. The 351 E V 6 which was available from 1966 to 1968 in 1/2 to 1 ton trucks is essentially a Magnum engine. as it has the big port heads and bigger manifolds. If you ever run into some old magazine ads from 1966 it mentions the 351 Magnum engine available as a high performance option. . The 351's were available both as Magnums and small port head 351 C engines up to 1972. Professionally rebuilt. this original V 6 has less than 500 miles on it. The Powerglide 2-speed automatic transmission has also been rebuilt. The truck has many new parts including exhaust. alternator. battery. driveshaft. brake master cylinder. wheel cylinders. brake lines. power steering. door seals. gas lines and a new gas tank. The carburetor has also been rebuilt with new hoses and belts. Mechanically speaking. this truck needs nothing and is ready to work or cruise the local car scene. Aesthetically. the truck also has many new pieces. to complement the new paint as well. The new pieces include steel slotted wheels. body side molding. and NOS trim pieces. NOS wood bed made of southern yellow pine. headlights. and tail lights and back up lights. While the owner states it not a show vehicle. it is a neat rarity that is sure to strike up a conversation wherever it goes. The original radio is not currently installed. but is available. $20000. 00 has been spent and receipts can be provided.
