Up for sale is my 1973 AMC Javelin project.

This includes a nice 401 short block and T-10 4 speed transmission out of an AMX.

The car currently has an operational 304 v8 and automatic transmission.   I bought the car from a dealer in Texas.   The car is currently not drivable because the fuel lines and gas tank need to be replaced.   The car has a brand new Holley 650 installed on top of an Edelbrock aluminum intake.   I have been cranking the car with a gas can. I believe the external fuel pump has failed but I will supply a new one.   When cranked. the car has a very nice thump to it.   The car has open headers that were never tied into the existing exhaust system (I will supply the adapters).   The body is in good shape. aside from the hole in the rear quarter panel and the trunk cancer.   Kennedyamerican. com is a great place to find cheap replacement body panels as well as interior parts. AMC's are the only thing they mess with.   The car has the original Plum paint and as best we can tell has never been wrecked.   The car has been stored since 1999.   The power steering pump leaks. The seats are in great shape while the rest of the interior needs work.   With the lock cylinder broken. I took the ignition switch loose from the lock cylinder and crank the car with a scratch awl.   The electrical system needs work. if it were me i would purchase a new wiring harness and start over. (I am including a very nice laminated. nbsp; color coded wiring).   The car has 4 wheel drum brakes which appear to have been rebuilt. due to the color coded springs inside. the system just needs to be bled.

401 short block:

This is the motor everyone wants.   The motor has been previously rebuilt and for some reason taken apart. I have no idea what happened to the heads or cam.   The motor has been previously bored . 030 over.   There is no lip in the cylinders.   You may be able to run . 030 over pistons again after having the cylinders honed. If not. the motor will definitely clean up at . 040 over.   The motor will come with a new timing chain cover. new aluminum intake manifold. and new fuel pump.   I have many other AMC motor parts that I would be will to throw in if interested for pennies on the dollar. I do not have any heads other that the ones on the 304.

AMC Borg Warner t-10 close ratio:

I bought this transmission and engine to replace the existing 304 and automatic.   The transmission is in great shape. nothing wrong with it that i can tell.   first gear is 2. 23 to 1.   It is from an AMC AMX designated by the P on the tail housing.   The speed shop I purchased it from had written on the housing that it was from an AMX. (see pic)

This car is "AS IS". This is a project car that needs to be rebuilt by a knowledgeable mechanic.   This is a great opportunity for a builder. it is becoming increasingly difficult to find these cars in this kind of shape. Not to mention it is coming with a legendary motor. You can easily sell the automatic and 304 to help get you started.   The car will be drivable with a little bit of effort: run new fuel lines. clean out the gas tank. attach the accelerator cable to the carburetor. You will have to install a temperature sensor for the carburetor to function properly.

Reason for selling:

I'm getting rid of this project because I don't think I will be able to complete the job in any reasonable time.   I also don't have the money to build a car right now.   However. I am not desperate. and will not tolerate being bullied.   I don't have to sell to anyone I don't want to.   Let's save us all some time and have serious bidders only.   Good luck to everyone.
