1960 Ragtop Bug Ready to be Driven and/or Shown
I have owned this car for 20 years in dry AZ
It has won multiple awards for class. paint. interior. motor. top 10 of show. 1st in PHX Bug o Rama but the trophies were not the goal rather this car is a driver and gets attention everywhere it goes
It was featured in the summer issue of Volksworld magazine in 2007
Cal-custom themed restoration started in 2004 and completed in 2006
Receipts documenting the build and continued maintenance records reflect the quality of this car.
As much original equipment as possible was reused or rebuilt. With safety and performance in mind a few items were replaced with re-pop and upgraded components accordingly.
Body:
Real Vert deck lid
Original 4 tab hood
Original 4 fenders
Original pans (battery repair)
Car was media blasted to steal and metal worked properly with all panels straightened
Ragtop section from a donor car (1959 that was totaled)
Pea shooter locations were shaved to match the A-1 ceramic coated exhaust system
Fenders are shaved with no top side turn signals. turn signals are wired to parking light bulbs in headlamps
Panel Gaps are great all over
Paint:
L264 Rock Grey. 1 year only for 1960
Black undercoating is sprayed inner fenders and underside of car
Interior:
Seats - powder coated seat frames and rear seat rail in Silver beige with custom made seat covers with vinyl sides and backs with tweed inserts. white piping accents
Carpet - Wolfsburg West Oatmeal square weave carpet in kick and perimeter with chrome around heater outlets in floor with Wolfsburg West rubber mats over Dynomat sound deadening material in the floor boards and over tunnel
Passenger side foot rest
Rebuilt and detailed early pedal assembly with skateboard wheel Or have original plastic roller
Painted fuel reserve handle for show not hooked up
Headliner - perforated material in good shape but not perfect
Ragtop - assembly powder coated black/ paint detailed rebuilt skeleton covered in black stay fast canvas with rechromed early Golde grab handle . have re-pop air deflector goes with the car
Ragtop Rails - lightly polished
Door panels - single color vinyl to match seats with rechromed handles and crank handles
Rear floor kick panels custom made match the seat vinyl
Dash - stock appearance with extra gage
VDO outside temperature has a thermometer pick up behind the front bumper cool accessory that looks great lights up with dash lights but does not function properly (was N. O. S. have box and instructions in German dated 1964)
1959 - VDO Km big needle speedo in great unrestored condition (original Mph needs resto goes with car)

Shifter powder coated Silver beige new rubber boot. new handle
Steering column + column bracket powder coated Silver beige
E brake powder coated Silver beige new internal spring. new rubber boot

Original mirror with rechromed arms and early -60 style plastic visors

Original and proper fuse blocks for 1960
Gas tank is paint detailed black and has the company name that did the body work and paint job. 'Independent Restoration' in the car color (easy enough to cover up if desired)
Simple fuel J tube outlet from gas tank with internal filter (rebuilt original reserve tap with all necessary parts included in sale the handle is installed in car for now)
Original Cog gas cap lightly polished

Pop out quarter windows original sekurit glass rebuilt with new seals with re-pop latches black knobs and re-pop hinge interior chrome hinge covers (original pop out latches go with the car)
Glovebox:
re-pop ABS plastic similar to wires cover material
Kenwood CD player with IPod hookup in glove box. 2 speakers. 1 in stock location the 2nd in glove box with stereo head unit. Closes for full discrete hiding spot
Motor:
Competition Engineering in AZ built and balanced 1776cc motor with just over 5000 miles since build

AZ Transaxle built transmission that was refreshed in 2005 has 5000 miles since refresh with one piece boots

Front axle:
Stock beam 3" narrowed with dual adjusters

CB Performance spindles lowered 3. 5" made for wide 5 kit
All new narrowed tie rods with later outside ends to accommodate spindles

C. B. Performance Steel braided lines up front
New German master cylinder with customized stock fluid reservoir braised to handle dual output for dual circuit set up

Stance:
Lowered but not slammed tires do not have camber in the rear
A single key works on entire car. comes with 2 each 1 original VW 1 re-pop blank keyed the same
Single stage touch up paint comes with the car
A lot of time and money is invested into engineering and building this car better than when new after being worked on by some real VW experts. The motor starts up in an instant. drives straight as an arrow and the brakes are practically new. This car is ready for a new owner to enjoy as is or take it to the next level. Bottom line this is a Fantastic 1960 ragtop bug.

Competition Engineering and you will see they have a great reputation for building bullet proof motors as well as AZ Transaxle built the Transmission. C. B. Performance Brakes and suspension. Competition Engineering did the dialing in of entire car. It is a Dream to drive and I will be sad to see it go but I am growing a small business so toys are being sacrificed.
