1954 CITROEN TRACTION AVANT BLACK/GREY CLASSIC CAR LEFT HAND DRIVE.
Sale price: £3,049.00 Make an offer
Car location: England, United Kingdom
Seller's notes: This is a 1954 Citroen Traction Avant 11BL Legere. It has a big boot which is handy for carrying around all your bits and pieces. It needs full restoration, so not for the amateur. If you want to buy and drive, this is not for you. The engine ran well but the 6v battery needs replacing, so now won't start. The carb. has a fuel leak so may need replacing. Electrics will need some attention as will some bodywork. The underside needs work, but probably good for now. The boot doesn't lock & has lots of filler. The interior is in need of cleaning and possible replacement of upholstery and some inner panels. It will need new tyres as the ones on it look a bit old. Brakes need doing. Wheels could do with shot blasting and powder coating. Has a reconditioned engine, mileage of which I don't know, or when fitted. Will need trailering away.

ALL of the INFORMATION provided BEFORE BIDDING .

You're not getting a sparkling runner. If you want one of those we'd be talking 8-9 K.
Re-Listed due to no communication from the idiot dreaming previous winning bidder.
This car was bought and imported from Belgium. by myself. last year. I have all the import documents. No charges for import were needed as it's a classic car. I now have it fully registered in the U. K. and it has the V 5. It is MOT exempt and I have the paperwork to confirm this as well. It's classic car taxed. which is free but needs a disc. I lost the other one. Classic Car insurance is about £100 per year.
It was first registered in 1954 but may have been built in 1953. I can supply the winner with details of someone who may be able to give you more information on this.
It has had new plugs and leads and a new coil fitted.
I have new front wing sidelights. as yet unfitted. Also spare new door handle locks.
The new registration plates are fitted.
A great source of spares. help and information can be gained by joining the Traction Owners Club T. O. C.
Parts are widely available.
The vent in front of the windscreen has. at point. been sealed.
The boot is heavily repaired with filler and doesn't lock shut.
This is for full restoration. If you intend to get a garage or restorer to do it. then you'd be better off buying a better condition car because they'll cost a lot in labour. This car is ideal for those hobbyists who want to spend a year or so restoring it but want a car they'll be able to drive. albeit a bit rough looking. without breaking the bank.
It doesn't start now as the battery has had it and will need replacing.
Take a good look at the photo's provided. I can take more if needed.
The passenger window has come off the mechanism and will need putting back on before it will work.
The driver's seat is a bit lose now and will need some fixings to hold it down. Possibly the passenger seat as well.
The electrics will need attention as will some of the dashboard cables. Lights work as does horn. Indicators intermittent.
Q. What exactly is wrong with the underside ? Is it very rusty ? Are we talking about patching a few panels / box sections or is complete replacement panels. floor pans etc ?
A. The bottom of the floor and sills look like they could do with just a clean up and check from what I can see but haven't been right under the car to check every bit. I do know the inside of the floor under the seats will need either some new panels or patching up.
Q. Is the boot lid new / replacement item?
A.
The boot lid is the worst part of the car. It has been filled and patched considerably and would benefit from being fully replaced. Also. the gasket around the edge is perished and needs replacing.
Q. Does the engine turns over ?
Have you driven it ? What is the gearbox and clutch like?
A. The engine won't turn over now as the car needs a new battery. As it's a 6 v battery. I don't have a spare to use in order to start it.
When the battery was good. I have driven it. Gears and clutch are fine. It has 3 forward and 1 reverse gear.
Q. Is the black panel in the interior shot a tear / piece of the head lining missing ?
A. No. the panel is for resting heads or shoulders on so as not to damage the lighter material.
Q. Does the motor have a heater - as these were not always fitted ?
A. No heater. although after market heater pipes/assemblies can be bought.
I recommend viewing before buying. I have described this as well as I can. If you need any further information. please feel free to

On 03-Oct-13 at 20:37:38 BST. seller added the following information:
I've had a go at jumping the car but I reckon there might be a problem with the starter. It's clicking but not turning over. now. It was alright before so could be either the battery or starter.
On 07-Oct-13 at 00:24:23 BST. seller added the following information:
Will people from overseas (Outside the UK Mainland) please STOP BIDDING on this car. You are wasting both your time and mine.
It clearly states in the first line. 'No overseas bids. '
I will not ship it overseas.
