1939 Dodge Luxury Liner Plymouth Chrysler DeSoto Chev rare Ford sloper for sale
Current customer rating:
Lots of genuine interest. and some ridiculous offers already on the table. Please don't waste my time or yours with offers of $4500. swap for a Commodore LS 1 etc.
extremely rare 1939 Dodge D 11 Luxury Liner. This sale is a heart breaker due to loss of storage. First up-the motor has developed a knock about 50 miles ago-opinions vary as to whether it's a gudgeon pin or a big end. I don't know but the oil pressure is excellent and it certainly hasn't thrown a leg out of bed yet. Lovely family rally car. and indeed was our regular family car just coz we love it so. Older restoration with a new paint job about two years ago.
Fitted with overdrive. which is rare. and about two grand worth if you can find one. This enables the car to comfortably keep up with modern traffic on the open road without stretching the motor.
I've had prices for an engine overhaul ranging from 4 to 8 k. that's if it needs one. Given that it has good compression and oil pressure. I had planned just to fix whatever the knock is and leave it at that-if it ain't broke don't fix it. However. because I know the noise will worry people. I've priced this car as though it's going to need a full motor overhaul. If some lucky bugger has a good Chrysler side-valve sitting around. they're all pretty much a bolt in.
Someone will get a beautiful car. Genuinely sorry to part with it. and happy to answer questions or arrange inspections. I can also recommend a very reasonable car carrier who does the Brisbane. Sydney. Melbourne corridor every week.
By the way. this vehicle is known to Chrysler Restorers Club members-was originally a Sydney car in a dark. perhaps Royal. blue.
Forgot to say-listed elsewhere so best check before you hit buy it now. I'm on .
I ll be listing a range of other classic cars which have to go for the same reason-they're too good to be left outside and my long-term storage facility is no more. please see my other listings.

Comments and questions to the seller:
from Graeme BATTEN, dated 09 december 2019Hi,
I am restoring my grandparent's D11. Keeping it 100% original.
Only a few bits to sort out to complete the project.
I need a photo of the starter motor-solonoid wiring to see what and how wires go to the starter button on the dash.
I would be pleased for help by way of a photo and/or wiring diagram (hand done if need be). The starter button does not appear on any diagrams I have seen.
Thanks,
Graeme
