Charm is strong. and few cars have more charm than a Morris Minor convertible.
Before he made the Mini. Isaac Issigonis designed the Morris Minor as a post-war. economical family car for the British public.
Employing the same principles. he would later use in the Mini. Issigonis focused on maximum interior and quality of experience.
Of the Minor. Issigonis later said he wanted to design a car that “the average man would take pleasure in owning. nbsp;
rather than feeling of it as something he'd been sentenced to.
This car shows 35. 908 miles on the odometer and is an American market car. with left hand drive.
Finished in a sporty red exterior over tan trim. this Minor 1000 offers cheerful open air motoring.
Initially offered as a 2-door saloon and 2-door convertible. the range would grow to include a 4 door saloon. truck and
commercial variations and the wood paneled ‘Traveler' station wagon.
Innovations in this small car included reduced wheel size to increase interior room and placing the engine as far forward as possible.
To assist the latter concept. Issigonis gifted the Minor with independent front suspension. allowing the engine to be lower and farther
forward than its contemporaries.
Introduced in 1948. over 1. 3 million Morris Minors had been built when production ended in 1973.
This is a Minor 1000. the 3rd development of the model introduced in 1956.
Notable changes included the introduction of a single pane. curved windscreen and larger rear window.
Most notably was the enlarge engine capacity. up from 800 cc to 948 (close to 1000).
The handling combined with the ratios of the 4 speed transmission make this a surprisingly quick and nimble car. even when ‘4-up'.
In addition to being an economical drive. the little engine will give more than you expect.
