Car will come with a Bill of sale from an Auction House.
It was purchased at auction where it was donated. Title is clear.
Since the auction the car has been stored for several years in hopes of restoring her.
This Riviera has an older inexpensive pearl white paint job. It looks very nice at 20 feet but is not perfect and has some scratches and nicks as well as a spot on the roof about 4 inches in diameter where the paint has come off.
It was given a set of whitewall tires and the cool reverse chrome rims with Moon style caps.
The interior is the original Black vinyl. Seats are remarkably intact with only light wear and a hole on the back of the driver seat made by a mouse. All parts are original in the interior. It will need to be restored as the woodgrain is weathered. the carpet tattered and it has the usual wear and tear from the last 48 years.
Odometer shows 63663 miles which I believe is original though I do not have documentation.
Body is straight and solid (this is an original California car) it does have some slight waves and minor ripples evident of the inexpensive paint job. There are no major rust issues that I could find with the exception of the lower front area of the hood typical of the 65 Riviera and some bubbling in the paint below the trunk lid and just above the bumper area.
Floors are solid and the trunk is solid.
Note the Headlight actuator Motor is missing.
A new water pump. Fuel pump. master cylinder were installed. She runs and drives fairly smoothly down the road. Trans shifts nicely and it feels like the rear end has lower than average gearing (I am selling this car for my brother in-law. I personally have a 65 Riviera that I can compare to).
While the engine runs good (we rebuilt the carbs) there is knock. It doesn't sound like a rod to me. Could possibly a timing chain. When we first fired it up it after years of sitting the engine sounded great. nbsp; but as we ran it the knock seemed to appear. The last time I drove it the knock seemed to go away or was not as loud as it warmed up. We have only driven it about 3 miles since we fired it up. I will highly suggest that the motor be checked out and or rebuilt before driving.
Chrome on the car is fair with the typical pitting. Rear bumper is slightly bent on the left side. Headlights can be opened by hand easily as all the mechanical parts are present accept the motor. Both headlight bulbs are missing.
This is not a driver but a restoration project with a huge amount of potential. As I mentioned before the engine is the matching number original motor and the car will come with the original protecto plate.
I have always thought the 65 Riviera as a timeless classic with a custom body style right from the factory! So recognizable on the road by auto enthusiasts.
If your a Riviera lover the Gran Sport was always the ultimate. especially the 1965 model year!
This is a rare original Gran Sport deserving of a complete restoration.
