1963 Morris Traveller in super condition

Relisted due to total time waster. Due to a small deposit placed hours after the car was listed and the promise of payment and purchase this weekend. I agreed to hold the car and list it as deposit taken. After shaking on the agreed sale price yesterday. with the intention of collection midweek. I ended the listing last night. I was contacted today to say that they had changed their mind. They had decided that a Morris Traveller was too ordinary and did not possess a wow factor. plus they needed to sell their classic as well. etc. etc. So up until today I could not really follow up any offers or enquires last week.   I can only apologise to all the people who made the views and to the watchers this car had last week. Can I please ask that you have the funds available and that you are really looking for a Morris Traveller to genuinely own and cherish!

Hello. and thanks for looking at our Morris Traveller.  

It is with great sadness that we have made a decision to sell our lovely 1963 Morris Traveller. who is affectionately known as Doris.   She is a special Traveller as she is what is known in the club as a dual personality model. and as so she is in a register with a few other rare models (1962-1964) of her kind within the club. She was actually one of the first cars to have the 1098cc engines fitted on the production line. Unfortunately we have just not used it as much as we would like to. and as we have recently purchased a motor home. it means that chances of Doris being used more often are less likely.   We have owned her since 2011 and have covered very little mileage. (mileage details below) but always intended to use her more. but never had the time too. It was always my intention to keep her. as I have made some subtle improvements to her. which does not alter her originality.

Body work finished in lovely Almond Green paintwork. it was re-sprayed by a Morris minor restoration company in 2006 which remains in very good condition all-round. The bright work is in very good order. The wood work has been well cared for and regularly coated. and remains solid.

The Engine is the original 1098cc. but the cylinder head has been converted to run on unleaded petrol. New S. U petrol pump fitted. It also now has a high capacity double core radiator for great cooling circulation. but looks original radiator. Newly fitted head gasket. all hoses renewed with reinforced Kevlar type and new water pump. New spin on oil filter conversion fitted.  New distributor cap. New spark plugs and leads. new air filter. Dynamo replaced with alternator. Brand new Smiths oil pressure and water temperature gauges fitted. Recently serviced with oil and water changed.   Gearbox and clutch as it should. and brakes pull up well. Stainless steel exhaust fitted throughout.

Interior is original and in excellent condition for its age. Seats were treated to new webbing underneath in 2006.   All seat runners' work. rear seat folds as it should. Carpet replaced in 2006. Headlining has slight tear near light. but nothing to worry about as it does not detract from the excellent condition that the headlining is in. Windows work well and are smooth to operate. I made a purpose made dog guard that is easily removable when wished. if you would like it included in the sell.

Electrics are now converted to 12volt negative earth. with the benefit of an alternator conversion for charging the battery instead of the old dynamo. All switches work. as do lights. wiper and the heater. In addition the car has discreetly had fitted. 12v power outlet. hazard flasher and switch. complete battery isolation switch with removable key.

Underside is solid and well maintained. and all greasing points have been done on last service. Rear springs are good and mounts are solid. All rubber bushes are in excellent condition. Steering is light and very precise; brakes are all good and pull up well.   Tyres are all in excellent condition with plenty of tread.

Spare set of keys. and spare key for locking petrol cap.

 Documentation includes. original 1963 bill of purchase. BMC passport to service booklet. large history file . ld mot's. receipts for work and parts. original owners handbook. Haynes manual.

Mot until next May 2014 with no advisories issued. Taxed (historic free tax)

 Original Mileage- 60065.    Recent mileage history as per mot history 9/10/2010=57723 23/05/2011=57846 21/5/2012=59166 22/5/2013= 59916. Total mileage during our ownership since 23/5/2011 is 2219miles.

So all in all this is a lovely dependable traveller. who deserves so much more use than we can give her. I have had many classic cars over the years. but none of them have been as simple to work on. plentiful for spares. cheap to run. and belong to a brilliant supportive club. Also none of my past classic cars have got under my skin such as Doris. I think there is just something about a Morris traveller or saloon that has a special meaning or reason to every individual. and I am sure the new owner will love her in the same respects.
