History
Autocar is one of the oldest car manufacture in the United States it was founded in 1879 in Pittsburgh Pennsylvania. The company specialized in commercial vehicles and is well known for the innovations in the spark plug for gasoline engine also perfecting the drive shaft system and the use of the oil circulation system. By the early 1900 the commercial vehicles out numbered the production of cars. By WWII Autocar was contracted to build 70. 00 military units and it was estimated that only 400 U-10 were produced in 1941-1942 according to the historical truck society. Making this truck truly a survivor of the WWII era and one of the rarest cab over's ever produced. If you are a truck guy and have been keeping an eye on the market you will agree that this is a rare historic truck that you just do not see for sale on a regular bases.
U-10
This specific truck vin#U-10-8033 originally was owned in Corona CA were the owner at that time did a restoration and installed the 1960 s V 8 engine and a few other pieces such as the gas tanks and the flaps on the back. Also the panels on the door look fabricated at that time. The truck was sold about 25 years ago to Ron Cole and sat at a service station in southern California until 2007 when it was purchased by my father and brought back to Texas and has been sitting here ever sense then. We never got around to the restoration and now she is looking for a new home. I hope that the person that buys this truck can restore it and customize it so that she can hit the road again. Thanks for looking and feel free to email or give me a call with any questions.
