1988 BMW M 5.

"Daily Driver"/Good Condition. Faded Emblems. paint fade on driver front fender. cracked / repaired front spoiler. CRACK FREE DASH
221 k miles. Non-original black / grey interior - this is NOT a Canadian Black on Black M 5 !!
Summary:"Daily Driver M 5".

Car runs. idles. and drives great.

I purchased it about 12 years ago from a BMW enthusiast who bought / sold M 5's. The previous owner had a BMW "Master Tech" fix any non-cosmetic issues related to the engine and suspension. Cosmetics are some fading. some dents and scratches. Interior has been converted to NON-ORIGINAL black / grey carpet. This is NOT a Canadian Black on Black M 5 !!
Condition:Car has some door dings. a little faded paint. emblems are faded. CRACK FREE DASH !!! LED trip computer e 28 fresh air vent upgrade Crack Freeeee Dasssshhhh Drive shaft fitted with "replaceable" u-joints.
Engine:Fahey Crank Hub Engine uses Mobil 1. Dinan performace engine chip Car idles well (indicator of compression)
Audio:Alpine 7618 Pullout Cassette w/new LED display Compatible CD player in glove box Quaility wiring to trunk Doors. floors all covered in "Dynamat" equivalent - doors sound great when closing. Infinity speakers in kick panels and rear speakers. Wired for a subwoofer - I used a Basslink. but no longer have the unit.
Transmission:UUD Short Shift Kit / bushings. 2 nd gear synchros sometimes act up
Steering/Suspension Power steering system had leaks - all new fittings a year ago.

Previous owner said it had "Dinan springs" - whatever that means. 750 bushings installed - 12-15 years ago. Dunlop very few miles. Non Original MSW 16" wheels. Comes with original M 5 Wheel in trunk.
Documentation:Some documentation.

Car was first leased out of Memphis. TN. Previous owner promised me a huge notebook full of all history. Never got it.
Not working:
Cruise Control (wasn't working when I bought the car - haven't ever tried it) A/C needs recharge ABS Brakes - not sure if they are working or not.

Known issues:Driver's front seat - one of the motors is intermittent - the front / back one. NO CAT - car has a "track pipe". Some tools - not all.
Rear tail lights - original shadowline. but not original bulbs / fixtures.

Previous owner used bulbs too hot and caused damage to the housing.

I replaced with GM style bulb holders.

Trunk area:

one piece of "trunk carpet" has light water damage - the cardboard is deteriorated. Water Temp sensor - needs replacing - electrical connectors cracked. Power Steering - I replaced the pump. hoses (I think I replaced the "brake bomb"). but the car acts like there is a blockage on tight turns.

It could be as simple as a kinked hose. r it could need a steering box rebuild. Steering box mount - the car has a huge "BOLT" for the steering box - put there by the previous owner. AC - needs a charge - I *think* the car was converted over to R-143 b/c there are two stickers that say so. However. there is a "RED" cap on the A/C dryer - so I honestly don't know. Rear Seat / Trunk - A previous owner cut a hole for a subwoofer.

I cut a 3/4 piece of plywood and covered over it.
RUST - when prepping for sale. I find very *minor* rust in two areas:
Trunk seam under trunk lid gasket.

I used POR 15. treated the areas. and installed a new trunk gasket. Same for seam under passenger rear door.

One of the drain ports was "clogged". That's all the rust I could find.
Accidents:
None to report under my ownership (last 12 years at least). none that I know of prior to buying it. Driver's front fender does have a different "fade" to it and you can see some body work was done.
