Current customer rating: (327 votes ) based onAbout myself (this Ebay account holder)I'm a car collector myself and any comment you see here reflects how I see this car from a collector's point of view. Some buyers simply don't care about those details but my idea is to describe the car as accurately as possible with no surprises to the buyer.
Make and model: Studebaker Power Hawk 1956
History:Car owned by the same family for 60 years. always garaged and pampered. A three ring Binder (about 2. 5 inches thick) full of service records from day ONE is included with this vehicle. eing a California (built at Los Angeles plant) car it never suffered from rust issues. chassis and body are sound. Original California black plates (included with the car)Clean California Title. Car has been in lots of meetings and car shows (with two second places in the last 5 years) over the years as the owner is a member of the Studebaker's drivers club. Car is now for sale because the owner is a senior cannot longer drive it comfortably without power steering.
Powertrain:Original V8 engine always starts instantly and has lots of power. No smoke or noises. Engine number VL9858Transmission shifts smoothly and fluid is crystal clear.
Body:Solid with no rust. Door and panel gaps within specifications.
Paint:car was last repainted in 1992 (invoice included)Don't expect the paint to look perfect. has some orange peel and when you look at each side of the car it looks wavy. It is like the body man involved in the last paint job did not spend enogh time blocking the panels and making them perfectly flat. The base materials they used underneath for sure were excellent quality because after 25 years you don't even see one blemish popping out. Trunk. hood and roof look perfectly flat. Car looks great and can be driven as it is or you can go to the next step and have it block sanded and repainted to be a show car.
Interior:Seats. carpets. door panels. headliner are in mint condition with lots of attention to detail.
Dash and gages:Original machined dash and gages in excellent working condition.
Radio:Original AM radio works OK
Chrome:all chrome is in excellent shape with no pitting.
Suspension:car feels stable and go over bumps very softly.
Steering:Car was never fitted with power steering. Electric power steering kits can be installed nowadays for little money.
A/C:Car was never fitted with A/C.
Tires:Almost new Firestones white wall in four corners. Spare tire in almost new shape.
Car drives excellent and can be driven anywhere without problems.
You will NOT be disappointed with this vehicle!
Don't hesitate to email me. I'll be glad to answer any questions regarding this vehicle.
This 60 years old jewel drives excellent. looks nice and needs virtually nothing!!
I describe the vehicle as accurately as possible; however there is no possible way to know everything about a vehicle that has been previously driven subjected to normal wear and tear. both cosmetically and mechanically. (unable to run Carfax report due to vehicle age).
Must have the funds available before bidding.
