1953 Buick Super Series 50 Woody Estate Wagon

This car represents a very rare piece of American automotive history. Only 1. 30 were built with possibly only a hand full of restored originals known to exist outside of a museum.   This car is sought after not only because of the rarity. but also the beauty they represent at a special time in American history.   1953 was the 50th Anniversary of Buick thus the red. white and blue accents on the steering wheel hub and Kelsey Hayes wheel centers.   The car was finished in November of 2010 with only 100 miles driven since completion.   The car has gone through a complete professional restoration of the highest quality restored back to original.   The car was purchased new at Kaufman Buick in Spokane. WA where the car is currently located.   The build date on the car is May 22nd 1953 and is a three owner car with the current owner in possession over the last 15 years.   Miles on the car prior to restoration was 88. 00 miles.

Body/Paint:  The body panels are original with no patch panels.   The car was rust free when the restoration started and was well cared for years waiting a final restoration.   The original color of the car was Glacier blue with matching interior.   It was decided to change the color to a more appealing burgundy which is PPG base/clear.  

Interior:  The interior was completely restored back to original in design except for the color. which matches the exterior.   A vintage period correct swamp cooler was restored and installed and blows cold.   All gauges work 

Glass:  The windshield is tinted and original to the car and is in excellent condition and very presentable.   All the side glass has been replaced.   The rear window is Plexiglas.   The original rear window comes with the car. but was replaced due to scratches.   Plexiglas was used due to replacements not being available.    

Wood:  The wood on the car is all original with the exception of the back passenger lower section.   The original wood was in excellent condition and was professionally restored by Stan Craft in Post Falls. ID famous for high hand made wood boats.   Looks beautiful.  

Engine/Transmission/Rear end:  The engine is original to the car and has been completely rebuilt.   The Dynaflow transmission is also original to the car along with the rear end.    

Suspension:  Original to the car and completely restored with new shocks and bearings.   Brakes are original. non power drum. and have been completely restored.   The entire underside of the car has been restored and painted.   Gas tank has also been replaced.   The exhaust had been replaced years prior to the restoration and was in excellent condition so it was decided not to replace and sounds quite.  

Brightwork:  All chrome and stainless has been restored or replated to the highest quality.  

Options:  Sonomatic radiator. Dynaflow transmission. Windshield washer. back up lights. side mirror. tissue dispenser. swamp cooler. Kelsey Hayes wheels and chrome NOS gas tank bezel come with the car. not installed.

Home made roof mounting luggage racks. never been used and built to look stock and original to the car.  

Tires/wheels:  The wheels are restored original Kelsey Hayes chrome spokes with correct center cap.   The original steel wheels and hub caps that came with the car with go with the car to the new owner unrestored.   The tires are wide whites Coker Classics including the spare.
