This 1957 BMW 'California' Isetta 300 Deluxe is an outstanding and completely restored example of the classic German-spec export Isetta. Featuring an eye-catching two-tone Japan Red over Ivory paint scheme (1957 was the only year that the 2-tone paint scheme was offered). this BMW Isetta is certainly one of the most unique micro cars ever made. With its unique front door. its 'egg' shape body. and its massive 300 cc/13 hp motor with 4-speed manual gearbox. this is a classic micro car that has been steadily climbing in value.

The paint and interior are gorgeous. Full Frame Off Restoration. the car received a complete mechanical overhaul with the intention of keeping everything correct and original. The engine. transmission. and all components have been freshly rebuilt and refitted to the car. All mechanical components have been checked and/or disassembled. rebuilt or replaced with period correct OEM parts. reassembled and test driven by Werner Schwark of Isettas "R" Us. The turn signals work. the headlights work. even the horn works. The car shifts through the gears correctly and it stops properly. The white sidewall bias ply tires look great.

This fabulous Isetta. #509871. was in very good cosmetic condition prior to restoration - no rust. no body damage. and it started and drove. The Very Best in the USA were consulted with and hired to work on the amazing restoration and rebuild of this particular BMW Isetta. Perry from Perry's Motorcycles & Sidecars of Ft. Worth. TX and Werner from Isettas "R" Us of Woodstock. GA are notable among the many contributors. These extraordinary gentlemen are the foremost experts in the restoration. rebuilding and general history and knowledge of the BMW Isetta and its motor. At the same time. had the rest of the Isetta restored and or checked from the ground up in a successful effort to maintain Factory correctness and originality throughout.

This 1957 BMW Isetta 300 Deluxe 'California' (California required all cars imported into California to have Dual Wipers). finished in its correct Japan Red over Ivory. presents extremely well and any collector or BMW aficionado will be proud to own it.

The car's origins were in Milan. Italy at the scooter and refrigerator company of ISO Sp A. run by Renzo Rivolta. Called Isetta. or "little Iso". the car was a startling. totally unconventional design that caused a furor at its introduction in Turin. Italy in November of 1953. From this influential debut. the brand was licensed to BMW of Germany. where it was viewed by BMW as filling a gap between their motorcycles and the luxury 501 models. The car was redesigned to accept the 250 cc 4-stroke engine from the BMW R-25 motorcycle. The finished car was announced in April of 1955 and went into production shortly after. The quirky little "motocoupe". as it was called by BMW. became the dream of the working man and in 1957 over 22. 00 examples of the "Egg" rolled off the line. its biggest year ever.

Finalizing your Purchase :
