1963 Sky Blue Flake Manx £11. 00

Photos taken by Volks World for the cover shoot. Most recent taken last week.

Probably one of the best known and definably one of the best built and presented Buggy's anywhere. Built by Mark Dryden of Flatlands Engineering.

For sale is Mark Dryden's Flake Blue Manx built in 2006. Now owned by me.

Winner of numerous prizes including Top 20 Volks World. Bug Jam Best Off Road and Custom Concourse winner BVF. The Buggy is in Class A condition. When taken for its recent MOT the inspector commented that this was the best example of a VW he had seen. Since 2006 the Buggy has enjoyed a great life with very little mileage and is in as good a condition as the day it was featured in Volks World magazine.

As Mark's own Buggy the attention to detail and the build quality is exceptional.

Originally built on a chassis provided by James Hale (Dune Buggy fame) and correctly registered as a 1963 VW Convertible.

Custom made parts throughout including the hard top with quilted lining. bespoke spinners Pacers. BSA Gold Star exhaust. custom track rods. custom steering column. custom number plates. custom steel shrouds. all wiring and switches perfectly concealed for a minimal look…the list goes on.

Engine built by Dan Simpson (premier VW engine builder) is a 1600 cc with NOS VW heads. 1500 Beetle gearbox with early short axles. genuine VW tinware. Scat stainless steel valve covers and pushrod tubed. VW trekker ball joint front beam…again the list goes on.

Cover feature in Volks World 2006. I have a fresh copy of the 2006 magazine together with a photo book of the buggy and the Volks World magazine of the 2011 featuring an article on Steve Collin's Buggy.

Steve had his buggy built in the same style. as Mark would not sell this one.

This is a massively reluctant sale of what is a piece of Buggy history and the best built Buggy I think you will find. Reason for sale is my daughters forthcoming wedding and the need to raise the finance…. for those who know how much a wedding costs will have some sympathy. I have had the Buggy for just over a year where it has been kept (when not driven) in a heated specialist car storage facility. Looks fantastic next to any Ferrari.

If interested please call me on 3. A Buggy of this quality is very rare.
