Daimler Dart SP 250

The Daimler Dart SP250 is a very rare appreciating classic indeed. with only 2645 built. The engine a rugged 2548cc V8 unit. is the essence of what this car is about. Originally named the Daimler Dart. it was quickly re-named the Daimler SP250 after Daimler where threatened with legal action from Chryslers Dodge division.

History of this car

Owners

If you like a car with history. this one is for you. The last owner acquired the car 3 years or so ago. from a family member due to bereavement. That person acquired the car in 1984 making it a total of 29 years approximately in the same family ownership. From what I can make out there are 5/6 owners including the 2 family members from new. The current log book shows 3 owners & the original buff log book shows 3. however could be interpreted as 5 or 6 owners. For all you who are not sure. DVLA was created in 1972 & new style log books only go back as far as 1972 for owners. you have to refer to the buff log book also. of which this car has in the history file to get an accurate picture.

MOT's & Receipts

On file are a huge amount of receipts for various items of work & parts during the last 29 years. On top of that there are no less than 30 MOT's included in the history file! That has probably got to be the most out of any classic I have ever owned. I can't upload all receipts but have managed to do the MOT's!

Books Etc

I also have available 3 books. an original owners handbook 3rd edition. a spare parts catalogue issued June 1964 & service manual circa early 1960's. all of which are very desirable & collectable in their own right. Available separately.

The cars condition

At present the car is in need of some restoration. The car is available as it is or restored. We will be starting to restore the car on 27/08/13. so any interested parties to purchase prior would need to do so quickly.

The body being fibreglass is sound. however would benefit from a full re-spray. The car is running & driving & is currently MOT'd until July 2014. so gives a good indication of how it is mechanically. This could be a cost effective running restoration over a period of time.

Cost wise for an amateur to restore depends on how far you want to go. The previous owners had been using the car as it is. You could enhance the car a great deal simply by re-spraying the car & no detailing under the engine. So costs for a home DIY-er could be very small indeed. We would accept close to the £19. 95 as it is. or £34. 95 finished to how we describe below.

What we are going to do

Body

We will be removing the engine interior etc. The car will be stripped to a bare shell. then sent to our paint-shop for a full re-spray. Anyone interested in purchasing prior to finish. will have the option of a colour change to the body.

Engine

The engine while out of the car. will be stripped down. all components checked & replace where necessary. all gaskets replaced. oils. lubricants etc. The engine & components will all be cleaned up & repainted before re-fitting.

Interior

The interior was renewed in the 90's & is in great shape & we don't feel the need for any work to the trim.
