You are looking at a very iconic 1950s custom car from the past. This 1936 Ford Roadster was recently rediscovered from a well known past president of the Early Ford V8 Club of America. This car was owned by this man for over 50 years. and has lived most of its life in southern California where most of the early hot rodding started.

The Roadster runs a 1937 engine with inserts instead of poured main bearings. and lower water pump with needle bearings and double pulleys to allow for installation of a McCulloch Supercharger. Oh yeah. did I say Supercharger? Chrome 97 carburetor. The transmission is a 1939 Ford for full syncromesh. The rear end is stock with a 354 gear ratio.

I have a statement that shows in 1963 Hokes Automotive Services in Hermosa Beach California had the Edelbrock Balancing Service Company balance the crank assembly. I talked to the owner and he said that Vic Edelbrock Sr. did the work himself (very cool!).   I will include all this paperwork with the car.

The brakes are a 1939 hydraulic brake system. and they work good. This roadster has a 1937 Ford steering gear. This made steering easier and allowed clearance for the cast iron Fenton headers. The headers run out to the dual glass pack exhaust. with Ford script exhaust tips.

The roadster has a 12 volt electric system. with a rewound 6 volt generator multiple discharge unit with hot coil and silicone spark plug wires. It has a modern radio with tape deck working through 1936 radio head with added station finder light.  As you can see it still has the original steering wheel and spare tire cover with locking cap. The roadster also has an accessory spot light.

The tires are Denman wide whites with the stock style wheels that have been powder coated body color. plus there are beauty rings and 50's style flipper hubcaps. The rear flippers have been removed to clear the 1937 Ford fender skirts.

The windshield is good. but the windshield frame has some pitting going on. The original heart shaped wiper motor isn't working. The top. side curtains. and top boot are Mercedes cloth. with the glass rear windows.   The top is in good condition. no tears. The front seat is in good condition. with one split in one seam and Mexican style seat covers. The rumble seat is in nice condition.

All the lights work. with the original light switch on the steering wheel. Clock mirror doesn't work. Very nice Ford script headlight lenses and headlights. The running board covers need to be replaced. It has a very nice chrome grille.  Complete Pines trim kit on the front nose. Original stainless steel greyhound. Hinge mirrors and air horn with compressor tank and chrome truck horns.

We have put this car up on our lift. and it appears the floor pans have been replaced. but could use some more work for cosmetic purposes. The rear inner body panel has some rust holes. but very repairable. For a car this old. it looks pretty good underneath and could be driven anywhere.   The bodywork and paintjob is probably 35 years old. It still looks good outside but has some imperfections and some dry paint areas. There are also some small dents that didn't get blocked out as they should. but very nice patina otherwise.

This roadster looks like something you would see in the 40's driving around Hollywood with a movie star in it. but I could also see it sitting on the salt flats.   This car is quite the looker even though it isn't a completely restored vehicle. which in some sense makes it better. This car has looked like this for 50 years! Anyone who gets this car is going to have a nice piece to add to their collection. We have been selling classic vehicles on Ebay since 2002. so you can bid with confidence. We have just learned from a close friend to the original owner. that this car was leased out to Hollywood in the early 1980's and was in a movie called "Maxie" starring Glenn Close. You can see the car several times in the movie!
