“Something good enough to win World 750 cc races…but cheap. safe. easily repairable. and pretty. ” This was what Charles Panter and Lawrie Bond (originator of the Bond minicar) set out to build. The Berkeley Sports was introduced to the public at the 1956 Motor Show. a year ahead of the fiberglass monocoque Lotus. The Sports SA322. often incorrectly called the B60. had the interesting Anzani engine used in several motorcycles. but it was fitted with a Dynastart. which incorporated an advanced rotary valve in the crankshaft. This car was promoted as "a new. ultra-light. two seater of unorthodox design. in which plastics play a very large part. "

After only 163 cars. the motor was changed for the Excelsior 328-cubic centimeter twin with three more horsepower. and the Sports now became the type SE328. often incorrectly called the B65. After the first six months' cars the awkward column gear change was placed on the floor. This  Deluxe model was offered with hubcaps and spinners. a tachometer or clock. and twin carbs. Production ran from January 1957 to April 1958.

The little car enjoyed considerable success in competition. and none other than Pat Moss. of Austin-Healey rally car fame. entered one in the grueling Liège-Brescia-Liège rally. This sharp example is red with a black interior. and it has the appearance. almost. of a miniature AC Ace. Bristol. / Siata. with its egg crate grille and rounded tail.

This car was a total prefessional restoration as noted in the before and after pictures. Every part was removed. new resin applied to all the fiberglass. totally rewired. every part gone over and redone.  The car was most famous . in the states. for its successful racing history and at $1695 was a very affordable winner of its class. I restored it to the racing  format. but it can easily be changed to a neat little sports car with wheel covers. tonneau cover and removal of the vinyl numbers. ( I have a new tonneau cover and very nice original wheel covers and spinner option)

It is a museum quality restoration and has won the Peoples Choice Award at the 2012 Watkins Glen Vintage Weekend. Councourse de Elegance and also its class (ZS) at Britian on the Green. in Washington. D. C. at the Gunston Hall. 2013. It has also been invited back to the Concourse at Watkins for 2013. It is one of the ten best remaining Berkeley SE328 cars in existance. It was purchased in Tyrone. Pa. and the Owners Manual is included. Many original issues of advertising for the car are included. complete Service Manual. many past issues of Berkeley Exchange. USA . span >  newspaper articles on the car. Shop Manuals. hub caps and spinners. and much more. The car even includes the original rear view mirror. and I have not seen one of those on any other restorations. The book. Berkeley Sportscars-Limited Edition. from England. is also included.

It was complete when found in a friends shed and had been parked there since  1976. The last inspection sticker is still on the windshield. dated July 31. 1976. It still has the original Michelin tires and a new set has been purchased and mounted on Berkeley wheels. for road use. The originals are in very good condition and mounted on there own set of wheels.

I have attached many pictures of the Berkeley. but it must be seen to really be appreciated. I would consider delivering the car and all the mateials. to the new owner. if within a resonable distance from my location. Feel free to ask any questions or if you need additional pictures I will be glad to provide them.

If you want to have a beautifully restored car that very few have ever seen. this is the one. Always the hit of the show.

Could possibly assist with delivery. I have an enclosed trailer. would ask for mileage payment. Can discuss if interested.
