Here is my 1968 Escort MK1. it is a very early BB42 type body shell. Body shell was completely taken back to bare metal. New wings. door skins. sills. front panel. rear arches. rear wheel tubs and rear panel were all replaced new. All door gaps and other panel gaps are perfect. The shell then was given 2 coats of zinc primer and then given a further 2 coats of 2K primer. Primer was guide coated and had many hours blocking back to get the lines of the panels straight as a pin. It was then given 3 coats of 2K octoral MS top coat in Riviera blue. the whole outer shell was blocked back and a further 3 coats were applied. The whole paint job then got a very time consuming flatten back with 1500 wet and dry. then machine finished to a very. very high standard. When you look down the shell all the lines are excellent and finish is perfectly straight. The whole shell has been seam welded throughout i. e.

1.      Bulk head strengthening plate (3 piece kit)

2.      Chassis rails

3.      Floor skids (Gartrac)

4.      Gusset boxes

5.      Front and rear suspension uprights and tops

6.      Complete Sierra Cosworth tunnel to take T5 box and cross member. this has been grafted into the car and looks like it was made from the factory.

7.      Front upper panel is removable so intercooler and radiator (alloy) can be easily removed. also all metal intercooler pipes have been welded into the inner wings and moulded in to keep things looking tidy and very neat.

8.      Inner sills are all custom made. also front and rear seat mountings and existing rear seat pan have been modified.

9.      The complete roll cage has been made so it also links up with the rear suspension space frame and is finished in silver powder coat.

10.                          Boot floor has been removed and totally made from scratch. it has twin tanks which 1 sits on top the tank platform (alloy) and the other lies underneath the alloy tank which has a built in swirl pot underneath. Pump and filter are laid out also so you can get to them easily. Pump sits in a stone guard which is custom made finished in high gloss powder coat. The whole boot is finished in blue 2K and flows in nice with the rest of the car.

Now I could spend hours writing hours about what's on this shell and how much time that's gone into this project the over the last several years but I will try and gear it down a tad to explain what you are getting with this sale.

1.      SUSPENSION: Bilstein adjustable coilovers (wedged) front and Bilstein adjustable rear coilovers. Completely rose jointed custom compression struts and arms. Alloy adjustable top mounts (E46 BMW). World cup X member modified to take Cozzy sump and alloy sump guard. Rear suspension is made up on a stainless steel space frame mounted to the chassis and floor which locates to the roll cage. The space frame holds a 2WD Cosworth diff or can mount the smaller 4WD diff using alloy spacers. It is housed in the frame on polybushes. All rear tramp bars are rose jointed left and right hand thread so they can be turned and easily adjusted. Rear hubs are built to house Cozzy hub carriers. these components are all finished in black powder coat and all had new bearings fitted. Rear drive shafts are strengthened and shortened so that ample wheel clearance is given when camber is adjusted. All the bolts throughout suspension are a very high quality most being A2 allen stainless bolts for zero maintenance and corrosion.

2.      BRAKE SET UP: Front have Willwood 4 pot with the biggest cross drilled discs I could get behind the wheels!! Front hubs have been machined to allow discs to fit over the front rather than behind like the standard set up. Rear brakes have Sierra callipers which have handbrake levers so all good for MOT (non hydraulic) rear discs are also cross drilled. All brake pipes are -3 Goodridge and some fittings are Billet. Pedal box is also custom and it houses an alloy brake master and servo which fits nicely under the dash and is easy to get to by removing air vents. Handbrake was removed Sierra and has been modified to fit in with the design of the build.

3.      INTERIOR: Low back Corbeau buckets in beta cloth with new Luke 4 point harnesses. Alloy side mounted subframes. Front and rear hand built alloy door cards with seam design rolled into the alloy the same pattern as the RS range. All gauges are new and all plumed in working (steppa-motor type). I managed to source brand new old stock head lamp switch and wiper switch which all work fine. Alloy navigators foot rest and red top battery is mounted neatly in the passenger's foot well. This also houses the ECU which will be included with every other bit of wiring ready to plug onto the engine.

4.      EXTERIOR:  Brand new blue tinted screen with darker top tint. Polycarbonate side windows with sliders. All glass has new rubbers and chrome throughout the car. Car is fitted with crystal head lamps and plastic Wipac bowls. Lucas Works indicators and side lights (mint) rear lights have all new chrome and also are mint. Front and rear bumpers are polished stainless and they are mounted on genuine Ford brackets which are powder coated silver with stainless allen cap bolts. Door handles were very hard to find seems they only made them on early Escorts for a couple of years so I had to send them away to be rechromed and they look great! The original number plates which were made for the car are still fitted and immaculate. The complete exhaust system is made up of 3” stainless steel and tig welded. it has a special manifold spacer for the turbo which I will leave on the down pipe. The wheels are genuine 7. 5x13 X pack RS wheels which have been powder coated the same shade of silver throughout the car. These are in excellent condition and fitted with new Yokohamas 175x50x13 tyres. I will leave all silicone coolant hoses and alloy header tank in place.

If any time you wanted to change back from IRS to a narrow atlas set up all mounting points are still in place. Axel would have to be a narrow type to get a 7. 5 J rims under the arches even with them rolled back like they have been.

Hopefully now you can see pretty much what you are getting!! It was probably easier for me to say that you are getting a completely getting a mint Escort with no engine basically. Everything else I will leave on the vehicle including all mountings and transmission (T5 Borg Warner with alloy quick shift). I will label all wiring connections to the engine so it should be a snip to put back together (most of them are colour coded plugs). I will also leave alloy radiator and intercooler with the vehicle as they were made special.

I have sold the engine which is a 4WD unit running a standard ECU set up hybrid turbo on a 4x4 manifold. What I will do is leave engine in the car for the minute so the winning bidder can see that everything works on the car how it should do.

The car has not been properly used. only up and down the yard to test the engine capabilities and therefore all other running gear will need testing before putting back on the road. Therefore car is being sold as a rolling shell only. All suspension will need completely setting up to make car driveable. also components will need properly checking over as the build develops. Don't go thinking I'm going to lump an engine in and be off out on a track day because it might be your last!! Gearbox was bought in as recon and all seems to work fine. I am really sorry to see this car go. it's one of my best ones!!  I need to move the car on now because of a very important building project and have no more secure room. This car is tax exempt and I have the V5 in my name. The car has never been rained on and always been dry stored. Car has covered 5 miles in total. This car is completely rust free and if stored correctly should last quite a few more years then coming out of a Ford factory.

Please email if you have any questions and I will do my best to get back as soon as possible. I have been as honest as I can with the description and the pictures don't really do this car justice but as with any car its worth arranging to view or at least contacting before you bid/offer and obviously there will be no bartering on price if you haven't come to see the car if you are the winning bidder. If bought through eBay a deposit will be required of £100 to secure the car for any length of time and this can be made through PayPal. You will not be disappointed. We can then make arrangements for the collection of the vehicle when I have removed the engine. Hope this all makes sense and I really want this car to go to a good home.
