Seller's notes: Whilst the paintwork and body are in very good condition due to an earlier refurbishment, their are a small number of paint chips and scratches around the Bonnet,Front Cowl and Mudguards. This has been caused by the folding Bonnet corners contacting the Cowl and Mudguard when been opened/closed.These can easily be touched up by brush and polished out.(I have fitted rubber Bonnet End Covers to prevent this reoccurring.)The Upholstery is also in very good condition due to a earlier refurbishment, but their are some watermarks on the Headlining due to water ingress over time.

The Standard Motor Company had a factory in Fishermans Bend. Melbourne and these Flying Standard Eights together with the later model Standard Vanguards and Standard Triumphs were very popular on Australian roads during the 1930 s to the 1970 s. so there is still a good supply of spare parts available as well as a very active Club scene in all the states of the country.
However this particular car was English built and assembled in Coventry England. and we believe it was originally sold in Adelaide. S. A. We are unsure how many owners "Freda" has had. ut we managed to track one of the previous owners from S. A. who had the car from 1984 until he sold it in 1995. This owner completed the earlier refurbishment including the bodywork and upholstery work and he provided us with a copy of a letter that he received from the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust in the U. K. advising him on what paint and upholstery colours would have been used in 1947. The car is finished in British Racing Green over Gloss Black mudguards and wheels and the interior is finished with Fawn seat covers and door cards and Cream trim with Brown carpets. ll are still in very good condition.
Most of the work carried out by us over the last four years has mainly been mechanical and included the complete overhaul of the engine assy. lutch. rakes. ront and rear suspension and the inspection. leaning and replacement of seals and gaskets of the gearbox and back axle assys. (All copies of receipts for these spare parts and work is available for inspection. )
Because we wanted "Freda" to be kept as original as possible. we have been very mindful to ensure that only original specification replacement spare parts have been used during this rework to preserve this cars patina and originally and ensure she remains as she was manufactured in 1947. We believe "Freda" looks. ounds. mells and drives as she would have in her day.
The engine starts on the button and the oil pressure at idle. when hot is 45 psi. their does not appear to be any oil or coolant leaks. all the systems work as they should. she drives and steers and stops as you would wish.
The original factory supplied jack. heelbrace. rankhandle and grease gun are affixed in position in the boot area and assorted tappet spanners together with the T spanner for the spare wheel cover are supplied and together with a large number of used spare parts are included in the sale. which includes most parts for two engines. wo gearboxs complete. ne back axle complete. ne driveshaft complete. ssorted steering. uspension. lutch. rake. lectrical and body parts. (a full list is available if required) together with a large collection of factory workshop service manuals and owners handbooks and Standard memorabilia (a full list is available if required)
"Freda" will also be sold complete with a road registered tilting car trailer fitted with disc brakes and lights. Vin # 6 T 9 T 27 V 20 A 0013006 and Rego # T 83476 (trailer rego due 19/10/17)
If you are looking for a great little rare car with lots of character and uniqueness. then this may well be the one for you?
