1928 Hudson Super Six Landau Sedan

This particular car. a 1928 Hudson Super Six sedan. has been in the current private collection since May. 1979. It was purchased from the previous owner in Upland. California.  The car has resided in the museum in Minden. NV since it was purchased and was last appraised in 2010 ($32. 00).  I've attempted to take a lot of photos in an effort to help potential buyers assess overall  condition of the car. I'm by no means a Hudson expert so hopefully the photos tell the tale. Beyond that. I'm going to do my best to describe the car in detail.

The car is in well-cared-for condition and was reputedly running when last parked. It has not been started in a while. but it's the opinion of the current owners that the car will run with little to no effort.

Exterior: The paint is shiny and looks similar to the quality of finish that the car would have had originally: In other words. not concours quality but certainly nicely done. There are minor scuffs and scrapes. but I don't see anything exterior-wise that would detract from the overall value of the car (no huge dents. creases. signs of ill-conceived repairs. etc. ). The car was looked over by a professional appraiser who didn't note any issues either (the appraiser notes are shown below).

The roof material looks like it was replaced and is still in great shape. It might be one of the best features of the car from a cosmetic standpoint. It could almost pass for new.

It looks like all trim is intact and in good shape. All plating looks nicely done and everything looks correct to the car. All wheels match and the tires were replaced at some point with what looks like are correct after-market versions. I didn't get to test the lights and exterior electrics. If there are any electrical problems. they should be small.

Interior: Knobs. handles. panels. gauges. trim and the like all seem to be there and original to the car. Even the original Hudson radio is intact! The upholstery is the original mohair. There are minor rips and tears. as shown. The color has faded on the mohair. but it has a nice patina. All gauges are present. but I don't know if they all function or not.

Mechanical:  As noted. the car ran when it was last asked to. Everything functioned as it should to allow the car to be roadworthy (engine. transmission. brakes. suspension. etc. ) I can't speak to how well the car ran or when it last did.

Other notes: The Hudson was featured in a 1985 issue of Automobile Quarterly. I believe it might have appeared in an issue that had an article about Murphy-bodied automobiles. One of the original uncorrected photo proofs is in the car's file (last photo shown). It shows the car photographed in Minden. NV. Also found in the file are two photos of the car in the collection (undated). a 1977 California registration card. the 1979  bill of sale. a letter from the previous owner and a receipt for new tires (1979).
