The car was purchased by me in 2004 and was prepred to rally spec to replace my stolen rally car in 2006. However another car was acquired and the 970 was never rallied and has been dry stored since 2006.
It has been restored carefully over the last 2 years as a road car using all new mechanical parts. but with many competition upgrades in period with the car which were fitted in 2006 such as all brake. fuel. and battery lines inside.
Engine fully stripped. cleaned and "S" crank and rods balanced with flywheel and rebuilt by Southam Mini and Metro Centre using Omega pistons. Swiftune SW 5 camshaft. ew 12 G 940 unleaded head. ltralite flywheel.
They also completely rebuilt the 4 syncro "S" gearbox. giving a very usable drivable car.
The engine is in the process of running in so just like a new car from the showroom.
Standard 1 inch and 1/4 H 2 SU's. LCB manifold and RC 40 twin box exhaust.
Competition drive shafts with Hardy Spicer couplings.
Suspension is full rally set up with gas shocks . egative camber bottom arms. adjustable tie rods and HILO's.
Minilite 41/2" wheels with Dunlop D 93 tyres.
New wiring loom and fitted alternator. New brake servo with carbon metallic pads.
Interior is mostly new with the correct carpets and latest Newton Commercial trim in the correct Grey/Gold Brocade. Factory reclining front seats.
Smiths period 8000 rev counter. correct 120 mph speedo and rare heated "works" type front screen. Moto Lita steering wheel.
The car is not concourse original having had a new shell early in its life and other upgrades as listed above. but is now in excellent condition with documented history.
Taxed and MOT till Feb 2014.
