Original Jensen Interceptors were powered by Chrysler 383ci (6. 76cc) V8 engine with a 4-barrel down draft carburetor producing 330 hp.  The 383ci (6. 3 litre) engine. also known as a 383 Magnum. was superseded by the 440ci (7. 2 litre) engine.  Jensen introduced the heavier Chrysler 440 Ci de-tuned engine V8 engine to target USA market and combat the 1971 Suez fuel crisis.
Early version 383 Magnum engine Jensen Interceptors are extremely rare to find.  383 Magnum cars are highly sort after offering increased horse power (~100 hp) over the equivalent 440 Ci.  383
383 Magnum Jensen Interceptors offer improved reliability & drive. and better road handling due to the reduce curb weight compared to that of the alternative heavier 440 Ci engine conceived cars.
