The recent recipient of an eye wateringly expensive mechanical restoration; the car comes to us with just under £200. 00 worth of bills (not a typo) for the mechanical aspects of the restoration. Subsequent to the rebuild. the jewel like twin cam engine has been run for 32 hours on the bench prior to being installed in the car. Needless to say the twin cam engine starts instantly & pulls strongly albeit whilst still being run in. The car comes with the most extensive & meticulous rebuild records I have ever seen spanning some 5 volumes of detailed notes. The dynamo & magneto have of course been refurbished to as new. A modern full flow oil filter has also been fitted.
The car wears its original T2 Weyman style touring body which like the rest of the car has received considerable restoration attention. The engine is running off twin SU carburettors fed by electric fuel pumps. the autovac being retained with the car. To the interior is green leather in good useable condition with a little patination. New Green Wilton carpets are currently being made for the car as is a new hood. tonneau & hood bag to smarten the car up & improve it over the somewhat faded previous items. A full set of almost unused side screens comes with the car.
On the road the car is not lacking in performance easily running in modern traffic with surprising speed. Steering is light & direct making the car easy to place precisely during cornering. All Lagonda gear boxes take a little getting used to; this one being reasonably easy once you are acclimatised to it. The cycle type mud guards turn with the wheels.
The running boards are of the typical Lagonda tear drop shaped end units. The car looks very imposing with the hood up having a particularly pleasing aspect from the front. A comfortable four seater the car is well equipped for four person touring. Large lamps & an extremely long bonnet make for a real vintage driving experience. the car being a great alternative to a 3. 0 Bentley.
