Land Rover Series III 88inch Lightweight 1983 A Reg

Here we have for sale a Land Rover Lightweight that is in very good condition.  She has been re-listed with a lower reserve and updated details as I have taken in consideration current market value to be fair to bidders including some more history.

The story is she was passed from a family friend after his age caught up with him to me and now it is time for it to go to a new home that I hope will look after it as well as she deserves.  

A little on the history- All the documentation is present and correct sir !!!. This has been done recently as the family friend had it in a garaged for number of years. he originally registered it back in the early 90's over the counter at an old DVLA office after he acquired it from the military. For some reason back then DVLA registered it for the wrong year and entered an incorrect number (not noticed at the time). This I am informed was rather common in the old days I am afraid with the old non automated system. There are a few LR's on Ebay that have had the same issues.  

The correct and legal history has been clarified from the full chassis number (on right hanger) and engine number and all documentation is present which was like pulling teeth where the DLVA are concerned including inspection. The BHC were a great help as normal. The military Vin plates have been replaced with new ones as the old ones were painted green. and a bit worse for wear.  

V5 states- Previous owners are just myself apart from our Great British Army and Navy (Marines) Yes they are sailors. which is on the ERM report.  

Documentation Present:

Military ERM Report- Showing Date in Service (DIS) and locations at where she served. including 40 Commando Royal Marines. 36 Signal Regiment and Aston Down upon exit from the military.  

British Heritage Certificate- Showing year and month of manufacture. date of dispatch and location of service delivery.  

NOVA Number -Proof to certify no vehicle tax is owing

V5 and Plates –New issue-Have embossed plates to relate to age and yellow and white.

A little on the truck-The Land Rover is a crew cab and was designed around the show/charity scene and personal style and has been done to represent our Great British Military (all arms). It came from the military with this crew cab as I have been informed. This might have been swapped out at Aston Down pre demobilisation or with one of the other units in which she served. I can only remember seeing about 2 in my service term. One was SASC 3 stripe (Germany) and the other was a great REME Armourer (Bosnia).  As you can see there are a number of weird and wonderful items on board her. This is personal choice. A couple were on it when received from military and my friend and others have been fitted by myself. If you do not like them they can always be removed. Also I have fabricated a lifting handle for the bonnet as these are very heavy when fully loaded (especially on this one) J . Everything has been done to the high level and she is one of a kind.

The truck may not be 100% (base model) military authentic(as in "out of factory")and this might not be to the taste or choice of some. I am aware though of certain groups upon a Land Rover open web forum that have engaged in finding time to pass criticism and comment at the truck and owner. The fact is. he equipped like this for personal choice and to draw public attention to assist in current and past fund raising for fallen and injured service personnel including friends (all arms) ! All comments have been read and recorded.   

The Bren- The vehicle also has a mount for a Bren on the rear (mount handmade) and the Bren will be included if required (including legal deactivation certificate). The reason for the Bren is that I pull a Mobat 120mm on the rear and it was used for sighting in the Mobat in the old days. Not saying this is how is was mounted. but it works for what I need.

I do not use the vehicle in the rain as where I live becomes it becomes very muddy and would take hours to clean her again.

Nearly a full years MOT and the only point was a small exhaust hole which I have rectified with a new stainless steel exhaust system. She runs very well as just had her from York to Northampton with no issues.  

I would suggest that you view the land rover prior to serious bidding as then you can see for yourself the standard and confirm present documentation.

The Land Rover comes with a box of many small spare parts (NOS pipes and such) and a spare set of leaf springs (one complete side). New front brakes complete have been fitted pre MOT.  

She has been used and added to. to preserve a little of our Great British military history and for a little fun on the way.

As normal this is a 33-year-old vehicle so if you have not owned a Land Rover before please do not expect the comfort of a BMW. the speed of a Porsche or pin point directional driving of a formula one car.

The only things that I still require are the two under seat plates for the middle and passenger seats. These were ordered but I think they are coming from the moon. If not here at sale end. then I will refund/deduct the cost to buy two more.
