TWR Jaguar XJS Full TWR 6 0 Litre Model With 5 Speed ZF Manual Gearbox for sale
Current customer rating:
Tom Walkinshaw Racing / Jaguar Sport XJS V 12
Built by TWR before their joint venture company with Jaguar was formed. and just one year after Jaguar won at Bathurst with John Goss and Armin Hahne driving.
These early 'full house' TWR models are both rare - and very fast.
In their day. a fully optioned 6. 0 litre TWR was as costly as a Ferrari. or Aston Martin and some believe that this is the car that Jaguar should have built. It certainly feels as fast as an Aston Martin V 8 Vantage from the same year. and may even be a bit quicker.
A road test in the June 1985 issue of Fast Lane magazine (copy of which is in the vehicle history file) shows that when originally built. just the ZF 5 speed manual gearbox alone cost nearly £6. 00.
That was a
lot of money in 1985. And the tuned 6. 0 litre V 12 engine started at £6. 00 - and went up from there. Plus the cost of the XJS itself. of course!
Most ' TWR' cars that are around only have the bodykit fitted. and only a handful have the 6. 0 litre tuned V 12 engine. This car has everything!
The specification includes:
TWR tuned 6. 0 litre V 12 engine TWR ZF 5 speed manual gearbox conversion TWR suspension (lowered and stiffened)TWR / AP Racing front brakes with ventilated rear discs TWR rear mufflers. with the 4 tailpipe exhaust TWR steering wheel TWR Bodykit and 'black chrome' finish TWR Power steering kit (re-valved for more steering feedback)TWR 'flat faced' alloy wheels (not currently fitted. but they are with the car)TWR 200 MPH speedo
She also has the AJ 6 Enginering Ram Plenum induction kit for even greater performance. Roger Bywater of AJ 6 Engineering states that they discontinued the Ram Induction kit as it was too costly to produce. but that it did deliver a very worthwhile boost to the power output.
This is a serious road car and would make a terrific Targa car as well (although it would be a shame to convert her).
Recent work has included an engine service with new oils. filters. plugs etc. a new gearbox mounting. new battery and a new clutch slave cylinder.
The Jaguar comes with the TWR alloy wheels (the cross spokes currently on the car were fitted by a previous owner). a history file which contains an original TWR Jaguar Sport price list and specifications. TWR single page brochure. the copy of the 1985 Fast Lane magazine and old invoices etc. The original Owners Handbook is also with the Jaguar.
This is a very collectable Jaguar and a fantastic Grand Tourer. with an agreed insurance value in excess of the asking price.
Only being offered as my other car hasn't found a new home as yet.
Please note that the mileage is in miles. not kilometers and that she is currently on Victorian Club rego and this is not transferable. However. the Jaguar comes with the necessary Vehicle Import Approval to allow for full or club rego.
Inspection is welcomed by appointment and I will be happy to answer any questions.
I'd also be happy to help with the arrangements for any shipping for export. should there be interest from outside of Australia.
Thanks for looking.
