I am thoroughly delighted to be able to offer you this superb CX. I recently acquired the car from it's previous owner of the last 22 years who ironically bought his first Cx from me when I was Cambridgeshire CXs. later to be bought out and renamed The CX Centre. He contacted me as he could no longer store the two CXs he had left(regular viewers of this website will probably have seen the brother car sell on here a couple of weeks ago or if not you may have seen that one featured in Classics Monthly). I must say he really did know how to look after a CX and this car is a pure credit to him. Therefore I bought his last CX from him too 25 years after selling him his first!
When I looked underneath this car I thought it was 20 odd years ago as the underside is absolutely superb - this is a pure time warp. The floors. longerons and sills are fabulous - there is no swelling of the sills. It is arguably better underneath than it is on top. I would have no doubt in saying this. ike the brother car. is one of the most structurally sound CXs left today. I think that allied to the owner's care it had been carefully dry stored for the last 19 years being regularly run up. So when you consider it was laid up in 1994 and has just re-emerged to the roads then you can calculate that this car has been on the road for less than 6 years so it is probably the closest you can come to owning a 6 year old Cx.
As part of the re-commissioning process I changed the timing belt and tensioner along with the water pump and coolant fluid. All four tyres were replaced due to flat spots on the old ones. Michelins were of course used. . new MOT was done with no advises necessary. All the spheres are excellent and the ride superb. Almost certainly the smoothest ride you can get. The engine oil and filter were changed as was the gearbox oil. A new battery was also fitted.
There is a well known detriment to having a sunroof in a CX due to the rust issues but this is one of the very rare examples(just like the other car) that disproves the theory that all CX sunroof cars have rust in them. As I said. this guy knew how to look after a CX and by properly keeping the drain channels clear the roof is in impeccable order. The sunroof works perfect at the correct speed - . as you can see in the pictures there is no rust on the roof. and this does not mean like the majority of CXs that it has been repaired/filled/resprayed - oh no this is original and the roof has never been painted. In fact I can see no evidence the car has ever seen any respray work at all. However there are a few blemishes to the bodywork which you may or may not see on the pictures. The main ones include a dent on the o/s/r wing. light scrape n/s/f wing and some painting splitting in the bonnet. few other minor scratches/small indents all of which adds up to nothing that should concern you. Of course if you want to win a show you will do paint but if you just want to drive an original unmessed car with a huge smile on your face then leave it as is. I have many more close up pictures if you require them. I would also point out that we have cleaned all the ABS sensors as occasionally the abs light would come on but by stopping and re-starting the car it would go straight out again . ince cleaning them it has not come on in the 9 miles i have driven it.
The VIP interior was standard on the later TRS and is the same as the GTi Turbo model. It is in excellent condition.
For many people the 22 TRS is a sensible option within CX ownership being the ultra reliable 2165 cc engine with no fuel injection and associated relays to worry about - it even has a manual choke as standard. There is a whole lot more room under the bonnet to access parts you may want to get at.
The car has done just 74. 00 Miles with its original service pack and very old MOT although admittedly that is just those done in 1992 and 93!There are 11 entries in the service book. The car was originally pre registered so was registered on the 9/8/89 and two days later to it's first proper owner and then in 1991 to the guy i got it from and as i said previously it was laid up in 1994 until February this year. So main dealer plus 2 private owners in total.
The interior is in excellent condition and a benefit of a sunroof CX is that you never have a headlining problem.

I am confident the buyer of this car will be totally delighted with the car but do recommend viewing before you bid as you bid to buy not to reserve the right to view first.
I can arrange reliable delivery or collect you from the local train station in March. I can take PX subject of course to e Bay rules.
The brother car sold for £3495 the same day as advertised and this one has done 12. 00 miles less but it is priced £500 less. I have purposely done this to make it more affordable to many and give me chance to devote more time to my big projects desperately requiring my time as i have left the aforementioned minor bodywork and there are a few minor faults too such as central locking not working (not yet investigated as only noticed in when doing pictures). he passenger key lock has been tampered with (should have a new lock i can give you). he clock seems to have a bad connection as it works intermittently. A couple of the notorious dash cubby holes have defected lids .
With regard to a towbar being fitted this is a genuine item and was fitted in 1991 and used for their annual caravan holiday for the following 3 years.
Advertised elsewhere so may be withdrawn at any time.
