Custom Show Winner - 1310cc - Classic Mini

 

I have owned this mini for the last 10 years. during which time it has been transformed from a scrapyard project. into a custom show winner.

 It has given me a huge amount of enjoyment over the years. but now the time has come to sell. so I can move forward with other projects.  

 All the work has been professionally carried out. so rest assured every aspect of the car is top class.

 I have tried to write as full a spec as possible. but there are so many unique parts and individual features.

 

Bodywork

At the start of the restoration. a complete new front end was fitted – front valance. wings. bonnet. Then doorskins. sills and inner wheel arches.

Modified sports pack arches went on and custom sideskirts. with modified ends to fit the arches neatly. Instead of being moulded. there is a neat colour coded beading between the body and arches/ sills.

The indicator wingmirrors are mounted onto custom plinths to suit the car.

One off bootlid. flushed with concealed number plate lights. New rear valance. with additional sidelights set in.

Internal bonnet pull.

Painted in Ferrari Rosso red. Formula 1 (doesn't make it go faster. but it sounds good!)

Red underbody lighting - the width of the front and rear bumpers. and length of the sideskirts - multiple settings including sound sensitive.

 

Suspension 

Reconditioned front and rear. some parts powdercoated.

Polybushed front subframe and lower suspension arms.

GAZ multipoint adjustable shocks all round.

Adjustable rear suspension height.

Reconditioned radius arms.

Supalight 8x13” polished alloys.

Bridgestone Potenza 175/50R13 tyres
 

Interior

 The main talking point of the interior is the dash.

It's a complete one-off. and took several months to make from aluminium and fibreglass. There are panels either side. with switches for internal and external lights. speaker ‘crossovers' and a ‘tweeter' on the drivers side.

There is a moulding underneath around the heater. and this houses the main switches (that you usually find in the middle of a mini dash) along with the choke and heater control.

To the right is a digital speedo with illuminated rev counter. fuel bar etc

In the middle is a screen. connected to the PS2 in the rear drivers side ‘storage bin' so you can watch films or play games.

The PS2 sits in a custom made housing. which is also moulded to hold 2 controllers and the power inverter (from 12v to 240v).

The JVC headunit (which has a remote. so the volume can be operated from a safe distance!) controls the quality Infinity Kappa Series;

5 ¼” component speakers in the dash (85w RMS. 255w peak)

6 ½” component speakers in the doorcards (90w RMS. 270w peak)

6x9” components in the parcel shelf (110w RMS. 330w peak) these sit on a custom made and colour matched. moulded parcel shelf.

12” Alpine type R subwoofer in the rear (300w RMS. 1000w peak)

 Currently the sub is mounted in the rear bulkhead as per the ‘union jack' rear seat photo. I found that you get a better sound from it inside the car this way. Alternatively. I have the original grey rear seat that can be fitted instead. and the box for the sub to put it in the boot (as per the ‘boot' photo).

 There is a Kenwood 4 channel 800w amp for the 6 ½” and 6x9”s. and a JBL 300w amp for the sub alone. both located in the boot.

 The doorcards are custom ABS mouldings.

The inserts in the dash and doorcards are carbon fibre effect.

 There is a custom moulded shroud around the steering column. and the indicator stalks have been shortened (this allows a better view of the screen from the drivers side. when the steering wheel is removed!)

MOMO steering wheel. gearknob and handbrake – leather and alcantara trim.

‘Snap-off' boss kit for the removable steering wheel (a great security device).

 Sound deadening throughout.

Custom carpeting throughout. This includes a custom made carpeted boot floor. with access panels to the wheel well and battery.

 Interior lighting includes green neons with strobe lights under the front seats. red lights under the dash into the footwells. and a strobe in the boot.

 It's a mobile party!

 1310cc fully rebuilt.

Hepolite pistons

Standard crank

Fast road cam (kent 276 I believe)

Duplex vernier adjustable timing set

High capacity oil pump

Standard cylinder head

Maniflow alloy inlet manifold

1 ¾” HIF44 carburettor (turbo type. modified to suit)

K&N air filter

Maniflow LCB exhaust manifold

Stainless straight through link pipe

Stainless rear exhaust box. twin exit

Re-conditioned gearbox - standard 4 speed.

Front disk brakes 8. 4”

 

Start of 2010. full engine stripdown and inspection.

Bores honed and new piston rings at +. 020. New big end shells.

Cylinder head re-conditioned – chemically stripped. valves re-lapped. new stem oil seals.

New gaskets and oil seals throughout.

New stainless braided brake and clutch hoses. new brake master cylinder.

New water pump

Oil catch tank. Breather system connected via rocker cover and crank breathers.

 Covered just over 2. 00 miles since.

 It goes well. sounds great and handles superb!

Extras

 There are some ‘extras' that can come with the car. these include;

Wheel centres – Chrome with union jack decals.
Optional oval ends for the twin exit exhaust (round currently fitted). br>Box for the subwoofer that can be bolted to the rear bulkhead in the boot. br>Interior trim to match the grey front seats (rear quarter panel and rear seat).
Electrical equipment manuals. some receipts. old MOT's. tax disks etc

 I currently have a private registration number on the car. I will be transferring this when the car sells. so it will be assigned an age related number 

(unless the buyer wants to put their own private plate on it first).
