1955 Standard Eight De Luxe. Blue with red leather upholstery. To keep prices down. the car at launch was very basic with sliding windows. single windscreen wiper and no external boot lid. Access to the boot was by folding down the rear seat. which had the backrest divided in two. The 1954 De luxe got wind up windows and the Gold Star model of 1957 an opening boot lid. From mid-1955 all the Eights finally got wind up windows. At launch the car cost £481 including taxes on the home market. This 1955 Standard 8 has been with its last owner since 2001. and during that time has undergone a body and paint restoration and been fitted with a fully rebuilt. more powerful. 948 cc Standard 10 engine and a new differential. The seating and door cards are original. however. the carpets and headlining have been replaced. The history folder contains some bills. invoices and old Mo T's and also the original buff log book and instruction book. This is a smart little “Eight” with a lovely patina and would make a great entry level classic. The fact that they are eligible for various historic motor sport events has meant that sound cars are now being eagerly sought after. The car drives without fault and starts on the button.
