The MP Lafer was an automobile maker in Brazil by the company Lafer S. A. Assemblies from 1974 to 1990. Created by Percival Lafer. a manufacturer of furniture. bodywork. type two-seat roadster. the MP Lafer is fiberglass. The latter is modeled classic British sports cars of the 40 s and 50 s. with a strong resemblance to the MG T Series and Morgan Plus 4. The chassis. engine. manual transmission. steering and suspension are from the Volkswagen Beatle (known for Fusca in Brazil). In its time. the MP Lafer was to become a very popular car. The Volkswagen dealer Rivest Repentigny had exclusivity for all of Quebec sales. Approximately 4. 00 were built during the 16 years of its production. About 1000 were exported to Europe but most to the United States. Contrary to what some think. the car is not a kit.
