Going to probably regret selling this iconic and rare microbus. It is complianced as a 9 seater. and would originaly have had two rows of passenger seats. However it has only ever had the front seats since I have owned it. Body wise. this is an exceptional starting point for a resto. or a rat bus. The sills. rockers etc are all solid. only slight surface rust on the front nose panel. none in the inside panels. It will need the cab front floor replaced. and the Battery tray. left and right. There is small amount of rust on one of the cargo floor seat mounts. and a little bit at the bottom of the B pillar. behind the front wheel arch. See Pics. The roof is perfect. The paint is mostly original. making it a great base for a rat. however unfortunately. most of the right side of the bus has either been rubbed back or painted white. as the last owner was going to paint the whole bus white. to match the roof. And the front panel was stripped back to mostly bare metal and needs work to get it straight. There are lots of dents and imperfections. showing this was a working bus. and in my opinion. add character. The worst being a dent starting from the LH rear quarter. which would probably require a lower quarter repair panel to be welded in to straighten out. the dent/scrape spreads down the side of the car. but is not too bad on the side. Overall. it is really hard to find a kombi. that is this honest and original. and with only minor rust repairs and panel work required.
Mechanically this bus is pretty good too. It currently runs and drives. the 1600 twin port engine is is strong. with rebuilt heads. and needs really only a battery. fuel pump replaced due to leaking from top. and wiring sorted. The gearbox gets all gears. but the shifter bushes or lack of make gear changes a bit of a lucky dip. interior wise the headlining is in amazing condition with only 2 or 3 tears. easily fixable. The seats either need seat covers or recovering if you prefer. The ignition was stuffed a long time ago. and now starts with switches on the dash.
Again. this is a perfect starting point if your on the market for a kombi. It was my dream to own one. and when i saw this one I couldn't go past it. But my circumstances have changed and it needs to go. and i will probably sell it for less than i paid for it. due to the low reserve. but it is what it is. Happy bidding!
