We all know the BMW 2002 was a revolution whose effects can still be felt today. but this is no garden-variety 2002. Imagine everything the 2002 promised in 1976 augmented with today's knowledge and technology. Well. imagine no more because this is that car. and it's incredible.

Starting with an ultra-clean shell. it was soda blasted and rebuilt from the bare metal on up. Factory flares and spoilers were added. the front bumper was shaved. and it was coated in the smoothest black paint imaginable. No doubt it still looks like a 2002. but this isn't a mild-mannered sports sedan and guys who know their stuff will instantly see that this is something special. All the original trim is in place. the factory 2002 badges are there. and it all sparkles like it's new. giving this car a very correct look. They were able to mix and match the best of the 2002 components. so the rear bumper is a slender early unit that looks awesome while the larger taillights improve visibility.

Inside. it got a full makeover. again borrowing parts from the BMW parts bin. Those black leather buckets are from an E 21 3-series and were made by Recaro. so you know they're supportive and comfortable. The steering wheel is a 2002 Turbo piece and the instrument panel was restored by Just Dashes. including custom gauges with chrome bezels. The beautiful simplicity of the 2002 is apparent everywhere and none of that was diluted during the build. so no weight-adding A/C or overblown stereo equipment was added. although there is a modern AM/FM/CD head unit in the dash feeding speakers in custom kick panels. A Z 3 short shifter was installed to manage the Getrag 245 5-speed manual gearbox. and it shifts like a toggle switch. The trunk is also Spartan but correct. and carries an Optima gel-cell battery for improved weight distribution.

The good stuff is all underneath. and you're going to be impressed. The engine is a screaming 2. 3 liter DOHC S 14 unit from a 1988 M 3. Featuring dual throttle bodies. fuel injection. and a 2002 Turbo exhaust system. it hauls the lightweight sedan around with gusto! A triple core radiator keeps it cool and urethane engine mounts keep it in place. It's also protected with a 2002 Turbo oil cooler that will make a difference should you decide to take this little weapon to the track. which is really where it was designed to be used. The suspension is fortified with H&R springs. Bilstein shocks. Tii struts. and urethane bushings all around. 4-wheel disc brakes. including E 28 3-series front discs. give it massive stopping power. and the front and rear shock towers are braced. Out back. there's a set of 3. 91 gears in the differential. so the high-winding powerplant can quickly get into the fat part of its power curve. Gorgeous (and expensive) BBS RS 070 wheels measure 15 x 7. 5. which is plenty wide for such a light car wearing 205/50/15 Yokohama performance radials and BMW center caps.

TERMS OF SALE

1. Per the e Bay User Agreement. by placing a bid you are entering into a legally binding contract and are committed to purchasing the vehicle described above. The details of this commitment are further outlined in the e Bay User Agreement.

2. Vehicle may be sold by Streetside Classic Cars prior to the end of the auction. Streetside Classic Cars reserves the right to end its auctions early or to cancel bids solely at its discretion and shall not be held liable for any such cancellation.

3. The winning bidder is required to contact Streetside Classic Cars within 24 hours after the close of the auction to finalize the details of the transaction.

4. A $1. 00 non-refundable deposit is required within 48 hours of the auction's close.

This deposit reserves the vehicle and removes it from the market. Acceptable payment types for deposit are: credit card. wire transfer. cashier's check. and money order.

5. If winning bidder does not contact Streetside Classic Cars and submit deposit within 48 hours of auction close. vehicle may be made available to the next highest bidder or another qualified buyer on a first come. first serve basis.

6. Streetside Classic Cars has represented this vehicle to the best of its ability. Prospective bidders are encouraged to contact us directly to provide additional information or answer any questions.

7. Please be aware that all pre-owned vehicles. regardless of age. mileage. or manufacturer are subject to cosmetic wear and mechanical failure. Streetside Classic Cars encourages bidder to have a personal inspection completed prior to delivery to help ensure your satisfaction. Third party inspections are to take place prior to a vehicles shipment or delivery.

8. All vehicles are sold "AS IS" and with no warranties expressed or implied.

9. Final or winning bid price does not include shipping. tax. title. or registration fees. It is the purchaser's responsibility to provide for any state or local taxes and shipping expenses resulting from the sale.

10. We can assist you in delivery through our network of private and commercial carriers. Most of them can deliver the vehicle to your driveway. We assume no responsibility for damages or delays incurred once a vehicle is in a shipper's custody.

11. Streetside Classic Cars bears no liability and shall be held harmless for any complications. expenses. or damages resulting from a failure to meet these terms as they have been set forth and established herein.

12. An additional documentation fee of $199 will be added to the purchase price at the time of sale.
