JAGUAR XJ6 SERIES 1 BEAUTIFUL CONDITION TAX EXEMPT CLASSIC CAR INSURANCE for sale
Current customer rating:
Here I am selling my tax-exempt 1972 XJ 6 2. 8 auto series 1. showing 48. 00 miles. which I firmly believe to be correct. As you can see from the photos. it is a beautiful car both inside and out. You don't often find series 1's in this condition. as they are getting a bit rare. Even the underside is good. The car drives as a Jag should. Everything works correctly. The doors all close with a reassuring. quality 'clunck'. The paintwork is beautiful - but not perfect. The interior is lovely - but not perfect. There are no mechanical issues. The car has been fitted with a matching set of fresh Pirelli P 600 tyres. The chromework is very presentable. but is showing its age. especially the rear bumper which is speckled.
The colour is called Sable. which is very 60 s/70 s. and you either love it or hate it! But it does grow on you. and it does add to that 'retro' look. I don't have much history on the car. except that the old boy I got it from owned the car when it was quite young. and then sold it to a pal of his. and then some years later bought it back. which was 20 odd years ago. He put it in his garage and never used it. but did do quite alot of maintenance to keep it looking good. and running well. It just became a hobby to tinker with the car.
Being a retired mechanic. who has had quite alot of British Leyland experience. I have gone through it from front to back to ensure that it is spot on. It passed its MOT with no advisories! Not bad for a 41 year old Jag! The headlamps have been upgraded to halogens which makes it much nicer to drive at night.
It has only had two small bits of welding done. to the front jacking points. and they have been done to a high quality - I know because I did them! As you can see from the photos of the underside. the car is being supported on the ramp by the jacking points. so no problem there! The car has been extensively wax oiled. both underneath and inside the doors and cavities etc. So there should not be any future problems of rust.
All in all. this is a lovely. useable classic car. but it is not concourse. I have tried to be as honest as I can in my description. When I drive this car. it puts a smile on my face because it is a lovely old Jag that has been well cared for and loved all of its life and glides along making it an absolute joy to drive. Being Tax exempt and cheap classic car insurance. it only costs a couple of quid a week to own and yet gives so much pleasure.
Viewing is recommended. I am siuated close to J 27 M 6. Any questions either email or phone me on 07831 272805 (Paul).
