For sale is a 1981 Delorean DMC-12.

I love this car. wouldn't be selling it in a million years if I didn't have twins on the way.

I will be upfront with you. this car does need a few things to make it into a daily driver.

It runs great. I drive it about twice a month on Saturdays just to keep it healthy.

I have a new alternator. copper battery cables. and improved door struts. all new from DMC Texas. which just need to be installed.

Right now. the alternator isn't charging very well. so a full charge will last you 2 or 3 drives.

Also. the Transmission computer (transmission governor computer) is acting up. causing it to sometimes stick in 2 gear. or downshifting suddenly. This is actually a fairly common Delorean problem. which can be fixed or by ordering a new one. (will send you the site for ordering. ebay won't let me post links to it. retails at about $299) The last thing: the keys will not unlock the door. So. don't lock it.

When I purchased the car in 2010. the door key was already lost.

A new key can be made for the door. I have just never got around to doing it. (also have link for this site. )

I know this seems like a lot of things. but honestly. it's not.

I have full confidence you will enjoy this car. runs great as is. and once these minor things are patched up. you'll have a great Weekend car on your hands.

I used to drive it about 3-4 times a week with no problems.

When I first purchased the car. the following were done:

new wiring harness (see pic)

all new engine and coolant hoses

custom back to the future seats. and console material
(Car is somewhat dirty. so on the black sections of the car. what may look like dozens of small chips are just dirt. )
I will do local pickup. and will be very flexible with shipping companies.
