A rare Lancia Beta Montecarlo fixed-head coupe with 79. 13 miles and cherished by the former keeper for 24 years.

EQUIPMENT
Thermoplastic resin bumpers. thermoplastic resin nose shell. rear window shelf. vertical rear window. brake cooling bumper air scoops. two sloping roof fins. Californian sports mirrors. leather sports seats. alcantara trim. electric windows. sports instrument cluster. electric clock. two-spoke sports steering wheel. lockable glove box. two speed wipers with flick action. two-speed heater fan. face level ventilation.

EXTERIOR
Designed and built by Pininfarina this two-seater fixed-head coupe looks stunning finished in gloss black Nero. originally Bianco. Benefiting from a detailed engine out. interior out. windows out restoration eleven years ago. a catalogue of over 120 photographs reveal the level of work involved and importantly. how structurally perfect this example now is having had light use since the full rebuild. There is some tiny debris in the top coat leading to a few isolated areas of paint imperfections and the bonnet has some age related markings along with minor stress fractures in the thermoplastic nose shell. All the correct series one badging is intact. The factory glass has a darker tint and the rare rectangular headlamp clusters are damage free. Absolutely no corrosion or rust issues this car is ready for a new owner to show and be very proud.

INTERIOR
An expensive full upholstery retrim is instantly apparent when entering the cockpit. The reupholstered black leather seats follow the identical stitching design of the originals and blend perfectly with immaculate door cards and alcantara soft dash. The controls feel typically fragile but other than the heated rear screen. all work correctly. A small blanking plate in the centre console is missing and a modern audio unit has been neatly fitted. The front luggage compartment offers a generous 7. cu. ft of storage and retains its original clean carpeting. A number of design flaws will take new drivers a few miles to adjust too. such as the offset and closely positioned pedals. but once settled in this car offers a unique drive full of Italian flair.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
A transverse mid-engine layout with 4 cylinders in line and a capacity of 1995cc this vocal engine produces 120bhp at 6000rpm. A delightful exhaust note encourages late gear changes and weighing only 1040kg progress is rapid and tremendous fun. Regular maintenance records and photos of a full engine rebuild help assure the new owner this vehicle performs as well as it looks. The dry single plate clutch with a 5-speed gearbox is light but familiarisation is required between first and second as second gear is located slightly to the left of first.

WHEELS. TYRES & BRAKES.
Very rare and correct disc type alloy wheels only fitted to the series one are unmarked and beautiful. As new 185/70 R13 quality Goodyear Eagle NCT3 tyres fitted. Disc brakes all round with independent front and rear circuits. The servo unit acting on the front wheels only has been disconnected as per the system standard on the series 2 model.

HISTORY FILE
Owned by the same gentleman for 24 years. Mr Urlwin-Smith. a Member of the Lancia Montecarlo Consortium. this vehicle has benefitted from much care and expenditure both before and during his ownership with an incredible mass of history and invoices. Enjoyed by him at various motoring garden parties including annual Goodwood Festival of Speed where it always generated much interest. Annually serviced but little use since the fully documented restoration in 2002. this rare Lancia is being offered for a lucky new custodian wishing to join a privileged club of owners without the fear of expensive and often imminent repair work. Recent expenditure within the last 50 miles includes a full cam-belt kit.

12 Months MOT and Taxed until December 2012. HPI clear.
