This is a 1989 Toyota Bandeirante. On this continent we recognize it as an FJ 40 Landcruiser. Being a 1989. this model is much newer than any FJ available in the US. The Bandeirante has always looked identical to the wildly popular FJ 40 series sold elsewhere. but there were several significant differences/ advantages. The most notable is the engine. as the Bandeirante is originally factory equipped with a bullet proof Mercedes diesel engine (OM-314). The brakes. a known major weakness in prior models. were upgraded significantly by Toyota. as well as the instrument panel. This model is equipped with air conditioning that blows cold. a CD player. 4 interior 6 x 9 s. rocker rock guards. and a factory equipped interior that is much more comfortable than any US FJ. For added safety. it includes 3 point retractable seat belts front and rear. The heavy duty roof rack is accessed by the step ladder on the driver's side. A 9500 lb winch mounted to the front bumper will bail out any of your buddies that can't go where you can. and an air horn will let them know you are coming to their rescue after they call you on the installed CB radio. Five (5) new 16" Mickey Thompson wheels and Goodyear Wrangler tires. Also equipped with brush guards on the headlights and taillights. 2 spare tires. and a rack mounted additional gas can on the tailgate. practically nothing will stop this Bandeirante. Overall the vehicle is in amazing condition.
The Mercedes diesel engine and a four-speed manual trans makes more torque than any gas powered FJ. With only 27. 80 original miles (45. 00 km on the odometer) this diesel is hardly broken in!
