1967 Lancia Flavia Zagato Sport in extremely solid condition for sale

I have been storing this Lancia Flavia Zagato in my barn for its owner for a couple of years now. and he has decided that the time has come to part with it. As he isn't a 'Lancista' but I am. and also as he doesn't 'do' eBay but I do. I am listing it for him. His father was a leading light in the Flavia Consortium of the Lancia Motor Club. but sadly died recently. His son has inherited the car. and as he is not an enthusiast per se would rather that the car went to someone who can give it the care and attention it deserves and finish the restoration that his father started.

Now about the car. These cars are nowadays becoming extremely rare and sought-after (examples are now regularly offered in Italy for close to 40000 euros. and the remaining work that this car needs will not cost anything like that. so this car is a fantastic purchase for the investor and the enthusiast alike). All Lancia values. but particularly values of rare and sought-after ones as exemplified by virtually any Zagato model. are rising extremely fast. so this car is not only already very valuable. but is also likely to increase considerably further in value over the coming years. I can't see it as anything other than a copper-bottomed investment. and in fact if I had the time and the space I would have bought it myself! Flavia Zagatos are definitely 'Marmite cars'. and the styling is not to everyone's taste. However. it is most certainly to the market's taste. and these cars are becoming more appreciated by the day. The opportunity to buy a sound and almost completely rust-free right-hand drive. UK-sourced example is a most unusual event.

The owner's father had good connections and extremely good taste. and he bought the car many years ago when good Zagatos were easier to find than they are now (since then it has been dry-stored. at first while he was working on the car and subsequently after his death). The car is in the most remarkable condition for its age. and the work that has been done to it also seems to have been of good quality. The aluminium bodywork looks to be in excellent condition. with very little needing to be done apart from a strip and repaint. with the exception of the wing quarter work mentioned below. The car has been dismantled but as far as I can tell is 100% complete (in fact I think it is probably more than complete - there are several boxes of spare parts with the car. and when I have finished inventorying them the ones that are directly associated with the car will be included with it when it is sold. and the others will be offered for sale. initially to the buyer of the car for an extra sum of money. as a job lot. and then subsequently on eBay if the buyer decides not to pursue this option).

The car is stripped down in terms of its bodywork and interior but the engine is still in place. and as far as the owner's son is aware is in running condition when the car was dismantled. However. this was some considerable time ago. and therefore it must be assumed that the engine needs recommissioning at least. and possibly mechanical and renovation work. However. the mechanicals are mainly standard Flavia and are very easily available and do not cost a lot of money (besides which. as I said. a considerable quality are available optionally with the car if wished). The Consortium of which the owner's father was a leading member is very enthusiastic. very active and very helpful. and if you were to join it I don't think you would have much trouble with any mechanical work that the car needs. All the glass is present and in good condition - if you know these cars you will know that that is a massive bonus. because windscreens cost the best part of £1000 if you can get them. and goodness knows what the curved side windows would cost - if you were able to find one! The ones on this car are. as I said. in good condition; the reason one of the side windows isn't visible in the pictures is because it has been removed and carefully stored in a box in the car. But it is all present and correct!

Body parts are another thing altogether. nbsp;however  and this car is in the excellent position of having just about everything there and almost everything in good condition. Off the top of my head the main thing that needs attention is the rear bumper. which has some rust holes and needs rechroming. However. it is sound enough for this to be a relatively easy prospect  and the front bumper is in pretty good condition. The interior is also present and in original and usable condition. which adds a very desirable dimension to the car - the fashion nowadays is to keep as much of a car like this original as possible. and to have a good. useable and original interior is almost unheard-of. There are in fact almost two sets of upholstery. and it should be possible to make a good. useable set of of what it there. The door cards are also present (again. there seem to be the best part of two sets). but they look as if they will need new cardboard. although again the vinyl seems to be mostly sound.

The car has had the sills refabricated and welded. and this work seems to be of very good quality and they now look to be very sound. The only further major work that I can see that needs doing before the car is reassembled and painted is that the four bottom corners of the wings where they abut the repaired sills need remaking. These are of aluminium. like the rest of the body. and so it is a b it more of an issue that would otherwise be the case (they will need aluminium-welding in place). However. they are a simple shape and should be easy for any competent aluminium-welder to fabricate and weld in place. Apart from these the only other significant rust that I can see on the car is that the front 'wheelhouses' (i. e. the mud shields that go up. over and round the wheels inside the front wings) are a bit crunchy round the edges and will need repairing. apart from that they look to be pretty sound. and I must stress that this is a very straightforward job.

The car will obviously need to be trailered from its current position. and I can do that for you for a negotiable but very reasonable fee if wished; alternatively you are welcome to arrange your own transport to collect the car. I will need a few days' notice before the car is collected. as I need to continue inventorying the parts that are with the car to ensure that you get everything that you should (and not parts that don't go with this car. because there are also plenty of those!).

If you would like more information about the car or would like to come to view it. please call me on 07515 597589. We are located a few miles outside Exeter in beuatiful Devon. so why not combine the visit to see the car with a brief holiday in the west country and a farmhouse B&B and cream tea (I can recommend some good ones if you want to do that!).
