I have for sale my 1946 Chevy Pick up.

It is a pre-war era model (1940-1946). Distinctive art-deco looks. this is a very distinctive. one of a kind. crowd turning truck.

Never amazes me how much attention this trucks gets. it stops traffic and people in the street. People love getting pictures of it. Don't bother with this truck if you don't like attention!!

I purchased this from a North Hot Rod Club (NHRC) member who had purchased the truck in 2013 when it had been imported. I have the V5C (It's in my name) and the truck is MOT and Tax exempt. I pay £150 insurance a year.

The previous owner. added a 3. 5L V8 Small block chevy engine (Rebuilt in November 2013) and TH350 3-speed automatic transmission. He also added Jaguar XJS front and rear independent suspension and channelled the cab by 4 inch so that the cab and bed sits lower. Therefore has front (4 pot) and rear (2 pot) disc brakes and is right hand drive.

Over the winter and summer last year  I spent on close to £5000. updating and cleaning up the trucks chassis area and engine bay. I stripped the chassis down. cleaned it up and painted it all. including all the suspension with POR15 paint. I stripped and painted the front and rear suspension. replacing all the nuts and bolts for new OEM. and fitting new front shock absorbers. track rod ends. lower and upper ball joints and power steering rack mounts. I also stripped. cleaned and painted the front callipers. fitting new seals in the process. I replaced all the wiring and fitted automotive plugs to everything. so everything is water tight and can be easily removed. I replaced all of the brake lines for new. plus fitted new front flex hoses. I replaced all the fuel lines and fitted a Fram H800 fuel filter and brand new custom made aluminium fuel tank. I replaced the original re-cored radiator as there was a cooling issue (as normal with this age of truck) and replaced with a 3 core aluminium champion radiator (Specific for this model). fitted new hoses and 180°f thermostat and a Ken Lowe fan adjustable fan controller.

Therefore the chassis. suspension and engine look brand new. The cab has a 1. 2mm mild steel floor bolted in. and has wood planks across it for authenticity. Bench seat (not original) with a Mexican blanket draped over it. The wooden bed. I've put hinges on so it can be lifted up. I was going to put some electric actuators on it. but never got round to it. It has a working split screen windscreen and front air vent (The air conditioning). very cool.

I've done less than 1000 miles in it since I've owned it (Over 2 years). it drives well cruising around town. easily cruises 50-60mph.

The truck has a painted patina effect which really suits the truck. there is some rust on the panels and there is a bit of filler here and there but it adds to its charm as a wanna be rat rod. Two old fashioned petrol cans are fastened to the sides. battery is held in the rusty trunk on the bed and the fuel filler is WW2 gas mask canister. There is so much detail on this truck I will have no doubt forgot something. you will find something different on every viewing.

Some details:

The honest bits

The speedo is out. probably due to rear diff ratio and wheel size (or the speedo gear in the transmission). (I use a sat nav and GPS speed anyway). Bigger wheels may well cure this. I was going to put some large alloys on it but that as going to be phase 2 which I'm not going to do now.

Engine and transmission have a couple of oil leaks. nothing unusual for this type of engine to be honest. Nothing major. nbsp;I suspect it's because the truck sits for long periods and the seals are drying out.   Could probably do with new seals at some stage to front and rear of engine and transmission sump.

Power steering rack seals have gone. therefore no power steering (I noticed during my mini refurb). It was working at one point when I bought the truck but the steering was too “light” with the thin wheels anyway. hence why I have not fixed the seals yet. Rack replacement or seal upgrade would fix this plus hoses.

The stereo is wired and powered. and the speaker cables go behind the seat. but no speakers are fitted.

As you can see there has been a lot of money spent. it would easily be a circa £20k truck with air-ride. lloys and an interior re-trim. And a sure fire show winner when it eventually gets to some major shows.

I do really love the truck. it's been the best thing I've owned. it is very popular when it goes the various local meets and shows I've been to. I will regret selling it once it's gone like my previous cars. but I need to do another project and have several itches to scratch.

I have plenty of pics and videos I can send a link to photobucket if you drop me a message.

This is a classified ad. so a viewing and inspection is strongly recommended. you won't be disappointed.

I'd be open to a PX preferably a VW classic (Beetle. VW Type 3 (notch back or fastback). Karmann Ghia. camper). WHY.

Price £16. 00 o. n. o
