Triumph GT 6 Mk 2 - GT 6 Plus Restoration Project
If you are looking at this advert then I'm sure you have or wish to experience Triumph GT 6 Ownership and/or want to enjoy a restoration project journey, making the car fit your own requirements.
The GT 6 cars are becoming harder to find and becoming more rare especially the low bumpered Mk 1 and Mk 2 models.
This GT 6 left the UK in May of 1970 and was shipped from Dagenham on the vessel ‘Borgstad' destined for British Leyland Motor Inc, Los Angeles , California USA.
The car eventually ended up in Alabama
USA where she was repatriated back to the United Kingdom and placed into my restoration queue in 2020, but too many projects and not enough time has reluctantly ended up with the project/GT 6 been placed up for sale.
The car is a full restoration project but with the shell being a USA Left hand drive shell should save plenty of work that you would normally have to address with a UK restoration example.
Exterior Colour :
Sienna (although is now faded - appears as a grey like colour).Trim:
New Tan. Sought after USA High back seats. In good condition for the year , all of the door cards ,
gear box and boot trim are included these can also be used for templates or restoration where appropriate.Specification
:
LHD USA / Canada Import.Identification
:
All numbers match the British Motor Heritage Trust Certificate.Date of Build
:
23 rd April 1970
Engine
:
2.0 Litre Straight 6.
Engine turns by hand and also moves when rocked in gear, the engine turns by key when a batter is hooked up. I haven't tried to get the motor running.
KD series engine with an SAH rocker
cover - maybe the engine internals have more to offer than a standard engine too , who knows only a rebuild will confirm this.Gearbox
:
4 Speed Non Overdrive gearbox.Body
:
The main shell has a very good windscreen area,
the roof edges are lovely as is most of the top side of the car.
The door frame bottoms /uppers and
boot lid are very solid - some light surface rust - no rot. The floors will be in need of repair / replacement and the rear valance could benefit from minor repair or replacement.
The bulkhead area has some surface rust and I'm confident the metal will clean up good.
The bonnet is very solid ,
and has had
the lights removed and the bonnet was also removed by the previous owner - so this is currently
on the car loose (but secure) at the moment.
The rear wings are in ok condition ,
but there is some evidence of a minor repair in places and will need to be reviewed.Bumpers.
:
Bumpers are in good condition.
Documentation:
The car has what is needed to register the vehicle in the UK,
that is the :
-
USA title,
-
the Factory Heritage Certificate,
-
The NOVA confirmation that all duties have been paid up.
- I can also assist with registering the car in the |UK with the DVLA.
Wheels:
Steel Wheels.
