1931/32 Auburn Speedster project for sale.    

Complete original 1931/1932 Auburn 8-98 / 8-100 rolling chassis and Glenn Pray replica Speedster body.  

Chassis (127” wheelbase) has original engine. transmission. rearend. full suspension. front side-mount fenders. hood. radiator & shell. running boards. lights. bumpers. etc.  

This project includes a complete. untouched Glenn Pray replica Speedster body kit in fiberglass (complete from cowl to rear).   Only 12 or so of these quality bodies were produced in the 70's by Glenn Pray.  

MANY hard-to-find and NOS miscellaneous parts and assemblies are included to complete this project.   This includes a top assembly. headlights. cowl & taillights. horns. wiper motors. gauges. bumpers. new fuel tank. etc. . etc…   See list below and pictures.

 

Details:

 

Body –

             Glenn Pray replica Speedster body. doors. rear fenders. gas tank cover. splash aprons.

Body is as-manufactured and has not been drilled. modified. altered. or damaged in any way (is sitting on the chassis for the photos).         

This quality replica has very straight panels and a nice factory gelcoat to make for an easy restoration (note: one rear fender has minor blistering in some areas).

Doors and golf bag door are hinged and fitted to body.

Convertible top conceal panel is hinged and fitted to body.

Cowl and door hinge areas of body incorporate a welded steel frame.

Original Auburn steel side-mount front fenders.   Solid but need restoration (bottom portion of side-mount wells are cut out).

Original Auburn hood.   Straight. solid. and complete.

Original Auburn radiator and shell assembly.

Original running boards.

 

Chassis –

Complete original rolling chassis (127” wheelbase) including all suspension. brakes. etc. (chassis/frame # 1188   188).

Single-speed rearend.

Driveshaft.

             Original Leaf springs / Delco shocks & arms.

             Original brakes / spindles.

             Ross steering gear (2 sets for parts).

             (6) 48-spoke 17” wire wheels with split rings & (4) knock-off hubs .

                               

Engine / Trans -

Lycoming straight-8 engine (engine # GU 70554).

             Swan intake manifold.

             Two cylinder heads (one cracked in water jacket).

             Delco-Remy starter & generator/waterpump.

             Purolator filter assembly.

             Bijur lubrication system. and extra reservoir assembly.

             Dual-point distributor. with NOS(?) cap and rotor button.

             Exhaust manifold.

             Basically complete from head to pan. minus front pulleys and fan.

             Motor turns freely.

             3-speed manual transmission with freewheeling unit. both shifters.

             Clutch and brake pedal assemblies.

  

Miscellaneous –

              NOS Stromberg URO-2 carburetor. in original box.

              Speedster windshield frame assembly with body gasket set. 5 pcs. . new repro.

Reproduction wood top bows with newly plated top irons. very nice repros.

             New remanufactured steel fuel tank .

Reproduction radiator front molding. 3 pcs. . new cast brass repro.

(4) headlight assemblies. complete with shells reflectors. extra doors/rings.   New body gaskets.

(4) cowl light assemblies; one is fully restored. others nice.   3 additional rings/doors.

Original taillight.   Perfect condition.   Base not included.

(4) complete horns; one extra motor.

(2) Trico wiper motors. left and right. NOS.

Front and rear bumpers (bumper braces not included).

Running board molding strips. 4 pcs. NOS or nice repro.

Front splash apron mounting hardware. NOS or repro.

Rear window frame and rear top hard panel (may not be correct for this car).

(2) 3-spoke Auburn steering wheels (need restoration).

Complete instrument panel (rough) and extra restorable instrument bezel.

Temp gage and sender. looks to be NOS.

Oil/Gas level gage. with new appliqué.

Speedometer with cable.

Amp meter.

Oil pressure gage.

Fuel pump. looks NOS.

Door latch assemblies and hardware.

(12) hood hooks.

(3) exterior door handles.

Radiator cap. new cast brass repro.

(2) gas caps.

NOS head gasket.

Set of NOS AC spark plugs.

NOS hose clamps.

Set of brass Schrader valves/caps.

Original Auburn 8-100 operating instructions and parts list publications.

               

Chassis is an original survivor and looks to have always been stored in a dry environment.   Car rolls freely.   Has been in the family garage for 30+ years.   This car will make a great starting point for someone wanting to build a Speedster to his or her own specifications.   Sale includes everything listed above and items pictured.   Nothing else is included.
