Marcos 1969 3 litre V 6 Coupe for sale
Current customer rating:
Here we have my 1969 3 litre Marcos Coupe.
First registered in February 1969.
Ford "essex" V 6 engine. This is the classic stalled restoration project and has been carefully stored in my dry. sometimes heated. workshop for more years than I'd like to admit. I have finally decided to pass it on to a new owner who will have the time and enthusiasm to get it back on the road.
A substantial amount of work has already been carried out:Full respray which for a fibreglass body is pretty good. there is a patch of orange peel finish on the shoulder of the drivers door and some flaking to the underside of the cill on the drivers side. Front brakes and suspension have been renewed. Brake pipes replaced with copper items. Seats retrimmed in burgundy velour. the photos show them a bit redder than they actually are. Engine subframe powder coated. When I bought the car I was told that the engine had been rebuilt. I cannot absolutely confirm this but the block and manifold look almost new.
Due to the time that the car has been stored I would suggest that the engine needs to come out and be stripped and cleaned. the brakes will need dismantling and cleaning. the sound deadening felt in the cabin and the boot needs to be replaced and the rear parcel shelf needs retrimming.
The dashboard needs to be re-fitted and wired up.
Currently wearing the rather ugly "Vauxhall Viva" headlights but there are a set of round lamps (3 new. 1 s/h) and a pair of used lamp bezels in the deal. A set of five genuine Marcos alloy wheels are included. all of which are in good condition but will need repainting and polishing. The rear plexiglass screen has some localised crazing as does every Marcos I've ever seen.
Parts that I know are missing include a carburettor. the bonnet stay. the fixing strips for the headlight covers and the front locking frame for the webasto sunroof. Most of the other parts are there but all items like belts. hoses and HT leads will need to be replaced.
If you think you may be interested in the car the best course of action is to give me a call with your questions. I will answer honestly as I know myself how frustrating it is to drive for miles to view this "amazing beautiful" classic car and get presented with a hopeless rust-bucket ! Please call on 07774 800 853 between 0900 and 2100 hrs.
we are 3 mins from the A 1 just south of Retford.
