Very rare opportunity to purchase this exceptionally desirable Mk 1 Morris Mini Cooper 970 S
Recently discovered some 30 years since it left these shores. nd subsequently repatriated this year . fter the owner passed away.
The car has been fully and meticulously restored and virtually unused since. esiding in a small private museum. hich included 200 motorcycles and other British Sports cars. I have driven the car and had it MOT tested and checked throughout. It's better than new. nd needs to be seen to be fully appreciated.
This UK supplied MK 1 Cooper 970 S. is equipped with the “homologation special” 970 cc engine. riginally to make it eligible for the 1 litre class in international competition. The 970 S was a very low volume production model. much lower than even BMC claimed at the time. Aimed at the 1000 cc class for racing and rallying. 1000 had to be built to qualify for homologation and they never got as far as 970! Homologated for competition use from April 1964. production sort of started in June 1964 but an ongoing shortage of crankshafts meant that by the end of July they had only built twenty four.
For the eagle eyed out there. Its running slightly larger carbs ( 2 x 1 1/2". but I do have the originals with the airbox. I also have a complete hoard of other original spares . hich will be individually listed at a later stage. just in case your looking for that rare piece.
The car is running period Magnesium Minilite Alloys with high performance rubber. but I do have the original steel rims with correct tyre. if so desired
This truly exceptional . atching numbers car comes with a Heritage certificate. UK V 5. nd its original buff logbook and 12 months MOT
Rarely does a 970 cc Cooper S come to the market. making this an exceptional opportunity to acquire such a fine example.
