MG TF Replica by RMB Gentry in British racing green

An early build of this well loved and well supported ( still in production see www. gentrycars. co. uk ) kit car that was assembled in the 1980 s by a professional mechanic. In our ownership for more than 20 years and now for sale to fund my daughters university education . The car is well loved with a fantastic patina that makes it look more like an original TF than "Just another kit car "- for this reason we have resisted the temptation to re-spray her and make her look just like the rest . Good bits :

Very good mechanically with 11 months MOT - only advisory is that 2 tires are approaching the legal limit ( Currently on SORN but will be insured for serious enquiries )

Built on a 1960 Tax exempt Triumph Herald chassis with original number plate( value £1800) included

Powerful Triumph Vitesse 2. 0 straight 6 with twin SU carbs gives very good performance . sounds great and has excellent oil pressure. Has surprised many a "Hot hatch " over the years.

Triumph GT 6 differential with Rotoflex back end and drive shafts

Front disk brakes with servo assist

Recent (in terms of mileage) stainless steel . twin pipe back silencer .

Fitted with 4 point racing harnesses ( although we have never used them ) and a rear seat ( for a brave or foolhardy friend )

Heater

Rust free . tax free and cheap to insure ( about £80 per year on 3000 miles per year classic car policy )

Not so good bits:

The paintwork is far from perfect with 40 years of small scuffs and scratches and some micro bubbling on the doors - but as stated before she has a great vintage feel . to re-spray would not take much but I think you would lose her history and turn her into just another replica .

The spoke wheels could do with blasting and powder coating .

Bad Bits :

The hood and side screens are beyond redemption and good for patterns only . As she is our fun weekend car ( done 400 miles in last 5 years ) this was not an issue but to make here useful these items need replacement .

The carpets could do with replacement - given the size of her this is about £40 of carpet and a tin of adhesive

Summary :

In all out RMB Gentry she is a fantastic little car and we would like her to go on to another loving home that will cherish her as much as we have .

Unlike the over restored classics that I have owned before she has been part of our family for 20 years and been used for trips to the beach with buckets and spades. a play space for my daughters ( who now need an education !) and their friends . a car for romantic drives in the country on sunny Sundays and so much more . She has always been well maintained with regular oil changes and safety issues always addressed and in 20 years she has NEVER broken down .
