VW BEACH BUGGY GP SWB MK1 1961

1961 Volkswagen GP MK1 SWB Beach Buggy
This auction is for my 1961 VW GP MK1 Short Wheel Base Beach Buggy.
Date first registered is 1st May 1961
The Reg is ESL797  and has had 6 owners from new.
M. O. T till 24th April 2017 with no advisory and is Tax Exempt
Unfortunately i am having to sell my buggy as need the money for other projects :-(
Interior
The bucket seats are on runners so can slide to you requirement and are covered in a black cloth material. All the dials work as they should. with an aftermarket volt meter. The speedo has silver dials and custom numbers. the fuel gauge actually works which is always a bonus. The previous owner modified with a ford steering column so all wipers. washers and lights all work of stalk. It has a 12" Mountney steering wheel on a boss with a push horn which has been fitted with a moped horn for that distinctive "beep beep". The gear stick has a nice blue anodised gear knob and a skateboard wheel for and accelerator pedal. The floors and rear have been carpeted and is good condition.  
Exterior
It is finished in an Amazing Metal Flake Blue/Black and the photos doesn't do it justice when its in the sun looks amazing there are 2 gel coat cracks but nothing that looks bad. he photos shows cracks. It has had some new headlamps recently fitted and is lowered on adjustable beam for that street buggy look. The Alloys are classic Wolfrace polished 15" rim with excellent tyre tread all round. 195/65/r15 on the front and 255/60/r15 on the rear. It has an Unleaded 1200cc Engine with new single solex carb which was fitted new 1yr ago. and has an upgraded alternator with 12v electrics. The previous owners said that the engine was rebuilt 3 years ago and i don't have any reason to doubt it. there is no end float and no smoking. I have just given it a service so it is ready to be driven away. The chassis was restored a few years ago and is in excellent condition so no rot underneath. The buggy has Twin cannon exhausts and a few chrome accessories. It starts on the button and runs really well because of the buggy being lightweight it is still nippy even with a 1200cc engine. I had the tracking and wheels aligned a few weeks ago so drives in a straight line without pulling.  The buggy drives really well considering it is 55 years old so please don't expect it drive like a new VW!!! drive her with respect and she will last you for many more years.
These buggy's are only going up in value so it will never depreciate!!
Because of the age it comes under classic car insurance which costs me £97 a year with no no claim bonus at a value of £6000 so very cheap to insure.
